Do you use the term "in our neck of the woods"? What other terms, that are a little odd, do you use? Do you like to see things like that in a book? Does it comfort you, make the story feel more natural? When I go to writer's workshops, they continually say to avoid cliches, but some days I find them "homespun" and more realistic. But that's me.

Friday, June 30, 2006. I am on a writer's list for a new publishing company- Mojocastle- where my favorite editor, Stef, is going to roost. On that email loop, a question was put out:. What part of the body do you NOT consider sexy, even on a hottie? Now me, I think that every inch of the human body can be used to turn someone on- if used with forethought- but I am often turned off by feet and arm pits. What do you think? What part of a hottie is unappealing to you? The email loop reminded me- the mouth!

Sunday, January 01, 2012. New year, new goals A NOVEL IN A MONTH? So, I signed up for a thing called JANO, to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of January. Technically, it only requires 1613 words a day. That's roughly 7 pages. Sounds pretty easy. But today, the first day of the challenge, I had family things going on, so I am just now sitting down to give this thing a shot. What happens next? What else do they grow out there besides rocks? Tuesday, March 06, 2012. I'm reading Diana Gabaldon's. I'm about halfway through the 800 page book. My daughter Cheyenne recommended it. I find the story good, albeit a bit wordy on the weed and herb collecting. It's funny, because I often write characters that are healers, who work with herbs. So, I should probably be taking notes.
