Aka: vintage camera and caffenol). What fun it is to own a pair of 1953 Brownie Hawkeye Cameras, a mighty find from a local thrift store! I have processed most of these images in a homemade developer consisting of instant coffee crystals, Borax, and vitamin C tablets. (aka:"caffenol") It's a slow and forgiving solution, and there is an element of fun in creating art with the help of kitchen chemistry! Please feel free to email me. That's a lot of time squeezed onto one photograph! The 6 images you see to the right are "time lapse" images of the sun tracking through the sky over weeks to months! Each negative is then digitally scanned, and then processed in a photo editor to invert to a positive image. The image must not have more exposure to light beyond this scan, unless it is chemically fixed to prevent further reaction with light. Please feel free to email me. Level 4 and Rising: The gentler one

Level 4 and Rising. To share, commiserate, and celebrate the thrills and spills of coaching gymnastics, especially the compulsory and prep-optional levels. Upward we go! Sunday, March 11, 2012. They like me because I'm the gentler one. Sometimes I can call it: the littlest girls leave the gym with tears in their eyes, and the next day, I know that I'll get a text from my boss: "Colleen wants a lesson with you.". I can be mean (can't we all, under certain circumstances? March 11, 2012 at 4:39 PM.

Existential crisis, take 10. If one more mother makes a "helpful" suggestion on how she would like her child to be coached, I may punch someone. This general theme of annoyance (with the taut pull of arm muscles) made up most of March. Lately, it hasn't been the kids. It's the moms. Here are my suggestions:.

An important part of my photography is being innovative with every day, "low tech" means of creating images. I find it very satisfying to make photographs from the cameras I construct with my own hands. I feel this camera-crafting process is nearly as important to me as making the images themselves. Hand-applied onto various print surfaces. The 6 images to the right were contact printed in the darkroom to various surfaces, after treating the surface with a silver liquid emulsion. A digitally-generated paper negative of the image is first created in a photo editor, and then is applied directly to the prepared surface as part of the contact printing process. The exposed surface is processed with standard geletan silver darkroom chemistry. Please feel free to email me. Contact print to watercolor paper.
