Musing, Opining and Criticising. Wednesday, 24 September 2014. 10 Books That Have Stayed With Me. Okay, so Clare nominated me to list 10 books that have stayed with me in some way. I have to list 10 books that have stayed with me in some way. The rules: Don't take more than a few minutes and don't think too hard - they don't have to be the "right" or "great" works, just the ones that have touched you. Copying this here from Facebook, to keep it for posterity). Five Go Off in a Caravan (Enid Blyton).

Musing, Opining and Criticising: July 2012
http://musingopiningandcriticising.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Musing, Opining and Criticising. Sunday, 15 July 2012. Tiffany Porter - Plastic Brit? When Tiffany Porter broke the British record in the 100m hurdles in June 2011, the Daily Mail had a shit-fit. Here was an athlete from abroad, running for Britain under supposedly false pretences, taking the record, the glory and the opportunities from true British athletes. I hate to say it, but for once I think they kinda have a point. Aldama writes of her pain at being seen as 'not-British', since:. Tiffany Porter wa...

More famous than Susan Boyle! Sunday, June 30, 2002. Hi Sorry there are still no further instalments of the Great Camping Adventure. I think I've lost the blogbug. After last week's holiday glory of getting to know so many interesting people for real, blogging to people I'll never, ever meet has suddenly lost its appeal. Keeping this weblog has significantly reduced my social interactions, and caused actual harm to my life. Friday, June 28, 2002. Bag off = meet a partner for hopeful later congress. No, o...

Musing, Opining and Criticising. Wednesday, 12 September 2012. Why I won't be buying an iPhone 5. It does look very pretty, doesn't it? And it's going to collect your e-tickets for you and have a really fast processor. It's got a great camera (just like the Samsung Galaxy S3 had when it came out), and a super-exciting new proprietary connector. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Musing, Opining and Criticising: June 2013

Musing, Opining and Criticising. Tuesday, 11 June 2013. Glass Mill leisure centre Lewisham - swimming review. Today was the second day that the new Glass Mill leisure centre on Loampit Vale in Lewisham has been open, and I went down this morning before work to have a swim. I was later than intended, so only got to do a few laps, but thought I'd write up on my experiences for others intending to head down. One development I did like was the huge clock on one of the longer walls of the building - this mean...

Musing, Opining and Criticising: March 2012

Musing, Opining and Criticising. Tuesday, 27 March 2012. Eurovision 2012 - a draw analysis. It's been a week, which is plenty of time for the draw for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest to sink in a little, so here's my take on what those random little balls have done to the chances of some of our favourite songs. Semi 1 starts with, who else, Montenegro. Follow, two strong songs which should have decent chances of making the final from any starting position. I personally feel that Latvia. As good a draw a...

Posh of Eurovision: Finland is VERY Finnish
http://eurovisiongossip.blogspot.com/2010/02/finland-is-very-finnish.html
Finland is VERY Finnish. Finland selected their entry last weekend in Tampere. It was a bland affair to be honest but there were two songs I kind of liked. Of course none of them even made it to the final 3. Your standards are slipping dear old Suomi! The winning song is called "Työlki ellää" sung in a Finnish dialect by two blondes who call themselves Kuunkuiskaajat. Try saying that out loud several times in a row! Good luck Finland - you'll need it! Finland 2010 - "Työlki ellää". Geir om grand prix.

Posh of Eurovision: 02/01/2010 - 03/01/2010
http://eurovisiongossip.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
MF 1 according to Posh. Holy cow, Melodifestivalen is back, back, BACK! The first semi must be the most modern sounding one yet and I love it! Was very excited last night to sit down with schlager-friends and see what SVT would treat us. Here is a short review. Nanne, Sonja and Charlotte made a luxurious opening number of "Holding out for a hero" to welcome the presenters on stage. Is a natural at presenting. Christine Meltzer. Enough said. Brilliant move to make him part of Melodifestivalen. Salem Al Fa...

Posh of Eurovision: Denmark's moment
http://eurovisiongossip.blogspot.com/2010/02/denmarks-moment.html
The Danes selected a standard eurosong on Saturday in the style of a duet between Chanée. Called "In a moment like this". I haven't decided yet what I think of the choice as I've only heard the song once and none of the other entries in Dansk MGP. Perhaps it was the best song on offer? Perhaps it's even better than that dire Ronan-song from last year? Still not sure if it's good enough. I only know one thing - we won't be going to Copenhagen next year. Denmark 2010 - "In a moment like this". Your country...

Posh of Eurovision: Twitter-like updates from EBU
http://eurovisiongossip.blogspot.com/2009/05/twitter-like-updates-from-ebu.html
Twitter-like updates from EBU. Eurovision Song Contest 2009 had over 122 million viewers. That is 17 million more than last year. Yay! Norway only used their jury in the final due to a technical problem with the local phone operator. That is why they voted last of all countries as they were trying to solve the problem but did not succeed in time. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
