Life Out Loud!: March 2008
http://gaelenscafe.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Saturday, March 15, 2008. Two days to the future. It's been two years since I've had to go through pre-op testing.but starting Monday, I get to relive it all over again. A couple of doctors I've seen too many times before. Meanwhile, if I think about it for too long, I won't be able to function at all. The surgery is scary enough. I don't want to do more chemo. So, I get to meet with a gyn oncologist who is the director of reconstructive surgery in his department, an...

When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Sunday, September 14, 2008. My first Tin Can Tourists rally. I love vintage trailers. I own and am in the process of refurbishing a 1980 Sunline SunSpot. I participate in the Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers forum. I've even met the owners of two teardrops, and toured their rigs. That's the Yvonne in the picture. And it was even cooler inside. Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Too sweet to be true. Maybe what would help their cause is to just change the subject. T...

When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Sunday, December 23, 2007. This version of normal. Tomorrow, I start 28 radiation and Xeloda treatments. Today is my last 'normal' day for awhile. Or maybe not.maybe the effects of radiation and Xeloda will be minimal. No way of knowing until I just do it. And let tomorrow's version of normal take over, tomorrow. ;). Thursday, December 20, 2007. The little things that will twist your mind. Twenty years- a major part of that time building cancer drugs. I told them tha...

When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Coping with Cancer- hope versus honesty. The title of this thread is the problem in a nutshell. Coping doesn't have to mean “hope versus. For me, since diagnosis, coping has always been about hope through. Honesty, because of. To paraphrase Gandhi, who was speaking about self-respect,. 8220;They cannot take away our hope if we do not give it to them.”. To paraphrase Eleanor Roosevelt, who was speaking about inferiority,. When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Sunday, February 17, 2008. Some days, normal would be good enough. The intestinal blockage that started in the middle of January seems to be resolved.as long as I don't eat anything stupid. Now, if I could just count on waking up without being dizzy, or eating whatever I wanted, or being strong enough to do more than one thing on a weekend. Yesterday, I took the dogs for a half mile walk. Today, I am dizzy whenever I get off the couch. Wednesday, February 06, 2008.

When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Monday, June 16, 2008. Taking my city back. I love New York City. For three decades, NYC has been mecca- the land of wonderful food, something new and interesting around every corner, so many places to explore and things to do that never in a lifetime could I or would I be bored or lacking for something to fascinate me. Yeah, I love NYC. NYC Someplace exotic and familiar at the same time, always a friend, always fun- my favorite city, my favorite quick vacation.

When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Sunday, January 27, 2008. I thought I'd try to get a picture of Madison and Casey into the blog. Casey is the red English Cocker, 13 years old Thanksgiving 2007, and Madison is the blue roan, 5 years old on Labor Day 2007. I am the one in the glasses. :). Sunday, January 13, 2008. When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Wednesday, October 17, 2007. And then someone notices. Maybe the thing that is so obvious to me ISN'T that obvious to the rest of the world. Goddess knows my self-image could use all the boosts it can find. Monday, October 08, 2007. As if it was yesterday. Tonight, I watched Kris Carr's self-portrait movie "Crazy Sexy Cancer.". I've seen it before, but only part. Tonight I caught the whole thing. Saturday, October 06, 2007. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). New Site: Life ...

When you hear hoofbeats.think zebras! Friday, June 26, 2009. A month without blogging. June was a full month. Oh, I knew it was going to be busy- but I had no idea how. Busy it would be. I had no idea that I'd end up here in the last days of the month with the worst cold I've had since cancer, slamming down Tropicana50 (the new reduced sugar OJ) and trying not to sneeze and cough at the same time! At any rate, there were up-sides to this busy June. Photo credit to Dave,. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I'm a...
