Rebekka's Blog: Prof Development
http://bekzjensen.blogspot.com/p/prof-development.html
It has been said that a country's educational system is a reflection of it's society and that in the general teacher education you can find - or spot - traces of ideological thoughts behind the society and dreams for it's future. Teacher educations strive towards giving their future teachers a set of competences they find useful in their future teaching profession. For some, theoretical knowledge. Are valued higher than knowledge. The freedom to choose between different ways of combining theory and praxi...

http://bekzjensen.blogspot.com/p/fad2-assessment.html
According to the Danish National Curriculum for English (Fælles mål 2009), Danish 9. Graders have to be able to use writing as a communicative tool nationally and internationally. This demands a certain degree of communicative competences, such as linguistic competence, pragmatic competence, etc. When I read and corrected a few English essays written by Danish 9. Rebekka's Blog: Equality and Equity - What can we learn from Finland?
http://bekzjensen.blogspot.com/2011/04/equality-and-equity-what-can-we-learn.html
Thursday, April 7, 2011. Equality and Equity - What can we learn from Finland? It’s time for a very long entry with thoughts that have desperately waited to get out of my head for the past 1-2-3 months. I think it’s time. If I had to wait till I could prove all my assumptions and generalizations I’d had to wait forever – and we don’t have forever, we have now. Before I tell you why I will take a detour (unfortunately for you, it is not a quick detour) to other aspects of my reflections. Ever since the fi...

Rebekka's Blog: How do we correct?
http://bekzjensen.blogspot.com/2011/03/how-do-we-correct.html
Thursday, March 24, 2011. How do we correct? Tuesday I had lunch with my Finnish friend, Matti, who is taking private English lessons and has done so for the last 2 years. His teacher is a freelance English teacher from the University of Eastern Finland. According to Matti, she is respected amongst her colleagues and is a very good teacher. In addition to this he told me that this is the procedure every time they meet (app. 4 times a month). Based on some books (he chooses his own books), he writ...Almos...

Rebekka's Blog: FAD4
http://bekzjensen.blogspot.com/p/fad4-art-special-edu.html
The 4th FAD will primarily be based on my "Action Research". The topic of coursebooks for TEFL caught my interest a while back when I was in my 3. I spent my 4. Term/semester in Finland and in Finland my interest for coursebooks grew even stronger, mainly because here, the use of coursebooks is very common in all subjects and is seen as one of the strong assets of the Finnish education system. The use of coursebooks in TEFL. (Maybe more specifik? Theories from Teaching Foreign Languages to Young Learners.

Rebekka's Blog: A Good Teacher?
http://bekzjensen.blogspot.com/2011/04/good-teacher.html
Sunday, April 3, 2011. I've completely forgotten about an overview of The University of Eastern Finland's guidelines - or principles - of what makes a good teacher. I got the mind map at a course I attended two months ago. The guidelines are made in a collaboration between the principals of the faculties of education at different universities in Finland. If I remember correctly, the mind map is from 2009. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind. Interviews,...

First week at The University of Eastern Finland. Both lecturers and students pointed out changes that had been made in the organisation and content of the courses since last semester. All organisations at the University have exclusive sections where students can evaluate the teaching and their experiences from courses, meetings with lecturers, tutors and teachers, library services, practice placement, etc. Third week at The University of Eastern Finland. During my observation lessons (5 lessons) at the U...

Rebekka's Blog: End is near..
http://bekzjensen.blogspot.com/2011/04/end-is-near.html
Friday, April 1, 2011. Yesterday I ended my ICT course and today I'll attend the last day of Finnish Art Education which means that I have to wait for another year before I get to really enjoy my studies again. I LOVE working with art! But I'll look on the bright side. I learned new crafting techniques and was introduced to - and experienced - interesting things that can be implemented in TEFL, especially when it comes to "teaching culture" and appreciating diversity. April 1, 2011 at 11:51 AM. According...
