http://cookingmycookbooks.blogspot.com/2011/10/recipe-all-my-own-spaghetti-with.html

My Favorite Food Blogs. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. A Recipe All My Own - Spaghetti with Roasted Eggplant. I am the first to admit that creativity in the kitchen is not my strong suit. I much prefer to peruse cookbooks, magazines, and blogs and choose other people's. Spaghetti with Roasted Eggplant. 1 large eggplant, or 2-3 smaller ones. 2 small onions, or 1 large. 1 pound whole wheat spaghetti, or pasta of your choice. 1 jar marinara sauce (I like this homemade sauce. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Cooking My Cookbooks: Summer Squash Tart with Goat Cheese

http://cookingmycookbooks.blogspot.com/2012/08/summer-squash-tart-with-goat-cheese.html

My Favorite Food Blogs. Friday, August 10, 2012. Summer Squash Tart with Goat Cheese. Today's recipe comes from the June/July issue of Fine Cooking Magazine. I made a few changes from the original, mainly due to what ingredients I had or rather didn't. Have on hand. If you just want to skip to the original recipe, it can be found here: Zucchini Tart with Lemon Thyme Goat Cheese. The final thing I did differently was to reduce all the ingredients by a quarter. Note. OK, there is one more thing I did diffe...

Cooking My Cookbooks: Baked Haddock in a Bourbon Marinade

http://cookingmycookbooks.blogspot.com/2012/03/monday-is-fish-night.html

My Favorite Food Blogs. Friday, March 2, 2012. Baked Haddock in a Bourbon Marinade. I have another fish recipe to share today. I know fish is not as exciting as chocolate and desserts, but one can't live on sweets alone! We've been having fish once a week lately on the night Nick has bowling (he's the non-fish person in the house). This past Monday haddock was on the menu so I got the fish marinating and put on a pot of brown rice. Then,. Baked Haddock in a Bourbon Marinade. Adapted from this recipe.

My Favorite Food Blogs. Sunday, January 15, 2012. Cupcakes, cupcakes everywhere! And a recipe for homemade frosting). Since I love to bake so much (and am slightly crazy) I volunteered myself for cupcake duty this weekend. There was a going away party and cake was needed, but what fun is just one flavor? By Alyssa Torey and Jennifer Appel. Check out their recipe for Magnolia's Vanilla Cupcakes. Add more cocoa. Too thick? Add some more milk. Too thin? Try another bit of butter. Of their recipes are fabulo...

Cooking My Cookbooks: A family favorite: Apricot Squares

http://cookingmycookbooks.blogspot.com/2011/09/family-favorite-apricot-squares.html

My Favorite Food Blogs. Tuesday, September 6, 2011. A family favorite: Apricot Squares. According to my brother, I shouldn't have to make anything for my own party, the "Boo! Well, in the end he got his wish. My first attempt was to make Mini Jam Tarts ( which I've made and written about previously. But they ended up a crumbling (but delicious! 1 1/4 cup oats. 1 1/4 cup flour (I often use whole wheat or white whole wheat and am still very happy with the results). 3/4 cup melted butter. 2- This whole you ...

Yes this is #4 I am waiting for my husband to help me write #3. This Sunday was great we had the carnival come to our house! The bell was a bowl and it was a lot closer to the bottom for Alyssa. My husband has an amazing imagination. Our daughter is 5 and we are all about having fun. We both work full time and live on a budget and some of the ideas he comes up with to occupy our time are amazing. My husbands talents do not just lie in his imaginative ways to keep us entertained. He is also a talented builder. He built this bed for our daughter, it has a slide with her name in it, some of the spots open to show hidden compartments and the legs move back and forth! On February 27, 2012. Post was n...

How to Organize Loose Recipes

http://thehappyhousewife.com/home-management/how-to-organize-loose-recipes

How to Organize Loose Recipes. January 30, 2012. The following is a post from contributing writer Angie. Was my favorite place to keep track of recipes, I had a habit of ripping recipes out of magazines, printing recipes from blogs, and making the occasional copy out of a library book. (Unless I loved a bunch of recipes, then I just “had” to buy the book and add it to my extensive cookbook collection.). Purchase (or find in your home) a three ring binder. If you have a lot of recipes or you know you&...

Cooking my A** Off | because good cooking should count as exercise

Cooking my A* Off. Because good cooking should count as exercise. What’s cooking besides food. May 10, 2016. The truth is, I have been experimenting, and when I give it enough thought, there is hope. I’m currently devising a dish of pre-baked chicken legs and spices with the ubiquitous canned green beans that I hope will resemble Szechuan beans with spicy garlic chicken. If I succeed, I shall definitely reveal how I did it in my next post. I mean, anything is possible, right? December 19, 2014. Double se...

Join me as I cook through my cookbooks, feed a few friends, and learn a thing or two along the way. January 13, 2014. When the lovely Helen from Good magazine asks me to contribute a recipe to the pages of my now favorite Dubai magazine, there is only one that I can think of to really impress — my Four Mushroom Risotto.
