cooking, roasting, brewing: second brew (red ale), part 1

http://cookingroastingbrewing.blogspot.com/2008/12/second-batch-red-ale-part-1.html

Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Second brew (red ale), part 1. This morning I brewed my second batch, with things mostly being more correcter than the first time. This was a five gallon batch of The Cellar's red ale recipe. 6 pounds pale LME. 05 pounds English crystal 40L malt specialty grains. 15 oz Palisade hops (boiling). 05 oz Palisade hops (finishing). 6 grams Muntons active brewing yeast (1 packet). Steeped grains in muslin bag in 2 quarts boiling water (off heat) for 15 min. Delicious grain aroma!

cooking, roasting, brewing: AHA Big Brew: ginger witbier

http://cookingroastingbrewing.blogspot.com/2011/12/aha-big-brew-ginger-witbier.html

Tuesday, December 27, 2011. AHA Big Brew: ginger witbier. May 7 was the American Homebrewers Association's Big Brew celebration. Of the 2011 National Homebrew Day. The idea is to participate in a group brewing event with a local club using one of the suggested recipes. My brewing gear isn't mobile, so I had to brew at home and catch up with the North Seattle dudes later. The ingredients ended up being:. 6 pounds liquid wheat malt. 1 pound dry rice extract. 25 grams Mount Hood pellet hops at 5.5%. Based o...

cooking, roasting, brewing: baked Scotch eggs

http://cookingroastingbrewing.blogspot.com/2010/10/baked-scotch-eggs.html

Monday, October 4, 2010. I had Scotch eggs. Once, years ago, probably at a restaurant in Victoria. Unlike the fine people of Scotland I don't regard deep frying to be the apotheosis of cooking methods. But a breaded, sausage-wrapped hard-cooked egg hurled into boiling oil is indeed heart-stoppingly delicious. Deep frying really doesn't seem necessary, though. I thought I'd attempt to make them in the oven. The only problem was that the sausage split on most of them. I really didn't use a thick enough...

cooking, roasting, brewing: seventh brew (Belgian witbier), part 1

http://cookingroastingbrewing.blogspot.com/2010/04/seventh-brew-belgian-witbier-part-1.html

Monday, April 19, 2010. Seventh brew (Belgian witbier), part 1. Brewing my first witbier. Was a lengthy and educational venture. More educational than fun, as a recall. I've wanted to brew another for many months, both because I love the style and because I was so thoroughly tormented by the first. Everything has been in the garage just waiting since last June! After scouting around online I settled on this recipe. For a Hoegaarden clone. 2 cans Muntons wheat liquid malt extract, 3.3 pounds (unhopped).

cooking, roasting, brewing: second brew (red ale), part 9

http://cookingroastingbrewing.blogspot.com/2009/01/second-brew-red-ale-part-9.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Second brew (red ale), part 9. The serendipity of both the red ale. And the Arizona Cardinals. Being properly conditioned for Superbowl XLIII. And for the first time in the history of the universe) led to the obvious christening of the second brew as Tipsy Bird. I also tried the online SUMO Paint. But found it unstable enough to prevent me from discovering very much about its capabilities. And I poked at Seashore. But it crashed in short order. Second brew (red ale), part 9.

Plant it, grow it, pick it COOK IT! Old Fashioned Date Roll Candy. February 13, 2018. February 15, 2018. Kerstkraut. (Of misschien toch kapoesta kvasjenaja provansal). November 11, 2014. November 11, 2014.
