Cross-Country Katie: Sewing Machine Monster
http://crosscountrykatie.blogspot.com/2012/09/sewing-machine-monster.html
A there and back adventure, from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon, and back again. Friday, September 21, 2012. I have made some good progress on my quilt and I now have a hefty little stack of squares waiting to be sewn together. I bought a sewing machine a couple of months ago, took a class on how to use it, and figured it should be a breeze to pop a few squares together and call it a productive afternoon. I tried cussing at the machine. Outloud. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Big Packs of Stuff.
Cross-Country Katie: April 2012
http://crosscountrykatie.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
A there and back adventure, from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon, and back again. Thursday, April 26, 2012. Blog Posts I Meant to Write. Ok, I promise I am not going to get in the trend of never writing. I have been there, done that, lost all my fans. No fun at all. So, I want to give you a bit of a recap of blog posts I WOULD HAVE written over the past 2.5 weeks, if I hadn't been a big poop head and didn't do it. Monday, April 16, 2012. The first day we traveled south down I-5 out of Oregon and jumpe...
Cross-Country Katie: I Love to Ride my BICYCLE!
http://crosscountrykatie.blogspot.com/2012/09/i-love-to-ride-my-bicycle.html
A there and back adventure, from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon, and back again. Thursday, September 20, 2012. I Love to Ride my BICYCLE! Oh wait…. Did I say formal? These are bike people… there is no such thing as formal! Is that Ross or Harry Potter? Saturday morning we wore up to cool temperatures and just a little bit of sunshine peeking through the mountain clouds. We “suited up” and got to the start line. Photo courtesy of Performance Bike's Facebook Page. I started out my ride feeling a little...
Cross-Country Katie: March 2012
http://crosscountrykatie.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
A there and back adventure, from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon, and back again. Friday, March 30, 2012. We are moving back to NORTH CAROLINA! Ross recently accepted a position at Performance Bicycle, Inc at their headquarters in Chapel Hill. Pretty exciting stuff, huh? And me… well I don’t have a job lined up yet. But I will! If you live in the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area, you can help me find a job or help us find somewhere to live! What do you call someone who lives in the triangle area? And Eisley&#...
Cross-Country Katie: Fuzzy Bugs, Armpit Pain, and a Happy Ending
http://crosscountrykatie.blogspot.com/2012/09/fuzzy-bugs-armpit-pain-and-happy-ending.html
A there and back adventure, from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon, and back again. Monday, September 24, 2012. Fuzzy Bugs, Armpit Pain, and a Happy Ending. And of course I took his picture! Being the nature lover I am, I was afraid if he stayed on our front step he would get trampled by Eisley’s paws or squished by a bicycle tire, so I scooped him up onto a dried leaf and set him in the pine straw next to our porch- that way I could still watch him. Isn't he a cutie? The toxin usually, but not always, ...

Cross-Country Katie
A there and back adventure, from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon, and back again. Thursday, October 11, 2012. As this blog has mostly been about our two-year journey to Portland and back, I decided that as we close that chapter and dive into a new one, a new blog would be appropriate. As we clean up our old apartment and (hopefully forever) say good-bye to landlords, I will be finalizing Cross Country Kate and stacking it away in the. Http:/ backseatboone.wordpress.com/. Cross Country Knitting
For Cross Country Knitting, Volume 2, Jen and Kate challenged each other to re-design one of their favourite adult patterns. The aim was to create two classic designs for girls and boys:. The kinds of nostalgic childhood garments that might be made and re-made, worn and re-worn, by several generations. The design challenge resulted in Jen’s Wee Bruton. And Kate’s Wee Bluebells. Both patterns are designed in 7 sizes to fit kids from 1 to 12 years. We invited Rachel Atkinson. Our talented friend Fergus Ford.
