What is the Cryosphere? The Cryosphere Theme and GEO. How are IGOS themes related to GEOSS? Given this direct link between IGOS and GEO, in 2006 the IGOS Partners and the GEO Secretariat began discussing a potential transition of IGOS themes into GEO. The Themes will work with GEO to ensure that Theme recommendations are represented in relatively broad GEO tasks. The IGOS Cryosphere Theme team is now forming a Cryosphere Community of Practice (CP) for GEO/GEOSS. More information on GEO is available here.

What is the Cryosphere? Second Cryosphere Theme Workshop. IGOS Cryosphere Theme (IGOS-Cryo) development. Workshop was held in Yokohama, Japan (50 km south of Tokyo) 24-25 April 2006. It took place in conjunction with the Asia CliC meeting. 20-22 April). The first IGOS-Cryo workshop was held 2-4 March 2005 in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. It was a key step in the development of the Cryosphere Theme Report, which is the first major milestone in the Theme development process.
