Climbing a Different Mountain: How are we now?

https://dalebloomer.blogspot.com/2014/05/how-are-we-now.html

Climbing a Different Mountain. One Man's Journey through Cancer. Saturday, 10 May 2014. How are we now? So what have I been doing that's a gauge? After only two days at home I was off to walk Hadrian's Wall over six days, camping en-route.The numbness around my toes from the chemotherapy gives me the uncomfortable feeling that my socks are scrunched underneath whilst I'm walking but I managed OK. (I'm working on a write up on my other blog for this). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). How are we now?

Climbing a Different Mountain: 3 Years On

https://dalebloomer.blogspot.com/2015/04/3-years-on.html

Climbing a Different Mountain. One Man's Journey through Cancer. Friday, 10 April 2015. It has been over 3 years since I was diagnosed and 2 years since Bob, my stoma was put back to his rightful place. So how am I and do I have any after effects from both the treatment and the operation? Bob as he was - Surprised he was not so awful? Well I still occasionally get that when I'm in a warm atmosphere. Still active, climbing in the Peak District with Graham below. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Climbing a Different Mountain: Another Milestone

https://dalebloomer.blogspot.com/2014/03/another-milestone.html

Climbing a Different Mountain. One Man's Journey through Cancer. Thursday, 20 March 2014. It is two years to the day since I had my double operation to remove my tumour and as I type this I would have still been on the slab for the second time in a day. So its not only a notable day in that respect but also in another in that have had my CT and Blood test results through by post. The letter said. 21 March 2014 at 20:18. Congratulations , ,! Climbing a Different Mountain: September Follow Up

https://dalebloomer.blogspot.com/2014/09/september-follow-up.html

Climbing a Different Mountain. One Man's Journey through Cancer. Saturday, 13 September 2014. It has been a fairly benign few months on the health front concerning the cancer and related treatment. I found it hard to sum that sentence up because someone in my situation could assume that once the op was done (well the second one! The cancer was gone or was it? Did the chemo sort it? Or do I still have it? Climbing with Anne at Birchin Edge. Kayaking with Dave Wright on the River Idle. I suppose it sums up...

Climbing a Different Mountain: September 2012

https://dalebloomer.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Climbing a Different Mountain. One Man's Journey through Cancer. Friday, 28 September 2012. Session 11 by the Skin of my Teeth. I have felt reasonably well from Monday on considering, so I have been into work a couple of times to sort out a few things that was playing on my mind. Now that is done I can settle down (maybe). Back home as expected a phone call confirmed that the platelets were a little low again and that I needed to be back at 08.30 for another blood test. With my "Glass Half Full" ...You b...

Hairy Arsed Climbers Don't Dance. Walk, Climb, sometimes Run and now Kayak. Monday, 12 May 2014. Hadrians Wall - the longest Pub Crawl. Day 1 - Wallsend to Heddon on the Wall - Distance 15 miles. The Wall at Wallsend. Andy and Paddy with the Millennium Bridge. And Tyne Bridge behind. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the first section along the river, the weather was good and we soon walked up a thirst so stopped at lunchtime at the first Witherspoon pub. Only one beer mind you! The first ...

Hairy Arsed Climbers Don't Dance: February 2012

http://hairyarsedclimber.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Hairy Arsed Climbers Don't Dance. Walk, Climb, sometimes Run and now Kayak. Saturday, 25 February 2012. Alderman's Ramble and Scramble. I've spotted a new Cicerone book "Scrambles in the Dark Peak" noting the location of some of the supposed routes. Having climbed and walked in the area for many years I thought that I knew most of the decent scrambling routes of any quality, so seeing some that was unknown to me I thought it was worth having a closer look at the ones on Alderman's Hill. Dave and I had a ...

Hairy Arsed Climbers Don't Dance: December 2012

http://hairyarsedclimber.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Hairy Arsed Climbers Don't Dance. Walk, Climb, sometimes Run and now Kayak. Sunday, 9 December 2012. Climbers on the Downfall. Once on the summit plateau we had an epic crossing to the Downfall area where we were surprised to see the Downfall partially frozen and even 2 people climbing on it. The ascent and crossing had taken so long that we decided to return via the same route, following our own footprints. Back at the car I'm a tired but happy man and I'm so glad we did not choose the chip shop walk.

http://hairyarsedclimber.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Hairy Arsed Climbers Don't Dance. Walk, Climb, sometimes Run and now Kayak. Friday, 19 July 2013. Outside Edge - V Diff My Arse. It is only about an hours walk to get to the start of the climb and the aspect is beautiful. Twin, crystal clear lakes below towering buttresses, it is surprising that this secluded cwm is not bustling with climbers and walkers. Craig Ogof - the route goes up the clean looking slab. Looking up the climb. And I told him so - but did it make any difference? The drive home wasn't ...

Hairy Arsed Climbers Don't Dance. Walk, Climb, sometimes Run and now Kayak. Friday, 13 June 2014. FRCC Geology Meet in Glencoe. You would think that after so many visits to Glencoe that I would be fed up of the place but it is not the case. Peter and Pam on the summit of Binnein Mor. With Ben Nevis behind. No beer at the pub but the promise of a cold one from the fridge back at the cottage was enough to spur us on. Looking towards Na Gruagaichean. After dinner Dave conducted a couple of caldera collapse ...

Yes winter has been and gone and with no sign of decent snow around the Peak, Lakes or Snowdonia, Did I miss it. So just to remind myself that I have been out I have looked through some of my best photos. Stanton Moor - Nine Ladies and Doll Tor. A walk around Stanton Moor following in the footsteps of Bronze Age farmers. The Kylie Circle at Doll Tor- Small but perfectly formed.

A collections of original songs I wrote in 2015, and recorded with the FreeWay Musical Collective. Click the album image to listen. Recorded in 2014, these songs are sort of a chronicle of my journey through a pastoral burn-out last winter. They deal with themes of mental-health, spiritual burn-out and depression, but also with the inexorable presence of God in the midst of darkness. Click the album art to download. Mardi 16 novembre 2010.

Climbing a Different Mountain. One Man's Journey through Cancer. Saturday, 13 January 2018. Sunday, 20 March 2016. Just remembered its 4 years! Well it is actually more than 4 years and all is going well. And I can understand that point of view but that's just me! So what has happened since my last post? Well I have been very active! I've Kayaked the River Wye which involved paddling 30 miles a day over 3 days and camping. I've competed in the Clumber Park Duathlon in March. And I've done some climbing.
