Of Malt and Marrow: November 2011
http://maltmarrow.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Of Malt and Marrow. A foray into all things homebrew. Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Younger's 60 Shilling Ale - 1868. One of the great things about beer is how much of the history of it is pure fantasy. We Americans tend to think we have invented beer and have improved in every way on what was done in years past. We also translate styles in weird ways. Take Scottish beers for example. What comes to mind? Malty, malty, malty. Why on earth do we think this? Because it is what is most commercially available.

A list of breweries in Bolivia. Resources for Bolivian Homebrewers. Article over at All About Beer. September 1, 2015. All About Beer just put up an article I wrote for them just before the end of my time in Bolivia, with a few updates thrown in to keep it present. Head on over to check out Bolivian Beer: Embracing Tradition and Building a New Culture. Beer I’ve only read about: Founders All Day Session IPA. August 12, 2015. Dan's Half-Assed Brewing Journal: Simcoe and Chinook Single Hop
http://half-assed-dan.blogspot.com/2010/01/simcoe-and-chinook-single-hop.html
Dan's Half-Assed Brewing Journal. Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Simcoe and Chinook Single Hop. So for my first beer after moving to Minneapolis (and getting the rest of my brewing supplies that my buddy in Chicago had) I decided I'd brew up a nice light bodied beer and split the batch to single hop with Simcoe's. And Chinooks. I wanted Simcoe. And a buddy suggested the Chinooks. I'm usually more of a fruity hop type guy (C-Hops) but these both sounded like nice choices that I'm not as familiar with. Total G...

Dan's Half-Assed Brewing Journal: June 2010
http://half-assed-dan.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Dan's Half-Assed Brewing Journal. Sunday, June 27, 2010. Tasting: Momma's Mango's Pale Ale and Time of the Month Pale Ale. So I've been putting off reviewing these fruit beers hoping they'd get a bit of carbonation. No luck. I may add some dry yeast to a few bottles and see what happens. Plus I brew way less in the summer as my weekends are always busy but I've never brewed so little as I have the past couple months. Momma's Mango's Pale Ale. Time of the Month Pale Ale. Intensily perfumed beer that smell...

Stuart Raymond | Friday Night Beer
https://fridaynightbeer.wordpress.com/author/dirtyspeed
Author Archive for Stuart Raymond. This is the end. But craft beer was like wine. I wasn’t drinking my hobby out of a paper bag under a bridge. I was at a brewery with six 3oz samples sniffing them and studying them. Alcoholics don’t appreciate liquor, they use it to get drunk, I wasn’t doing that. But I was. That was just another beer to me. I love lambics, the sours but the ABV? What was I going to do on vacations What was I going to do WHAT WAS I GOING TO DO! Own Todd Haug will have a special beer for...

The Novice Home Brewer. Tales from a Nordeast home brewer. Thursday, September 23, 2010. UPDATE to the UPDATE:. The hops are finally weighed and I came in with 12oz of homegrown magnum hops! I have finished picking the magnums and with the second pick I got another bag full like you see below. I am estimating that the dried weight of these hops is around 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound! Cannot wait to see how these do next year! The first pick of my Magnum hops are dried! Here are some picks of the magnums. The bl...

The Novice Home Brewer. Tales from a Nordeast home brewer. Friday, August 27, 2010. Ale Asylum Hopalicious Review and More. Ale Asylum Hopalicious is an American Pale Ale brewed with all Cascade hops. There are 11 additions of cascades to this tasty beverage. This ale is unfiltered and according to the bottle brewed in sanity (love that tag line by the way! It pours a slightly hazy orange copper with a nice white cap. The aroma is citrus with some grapefruit and orange and maybe a little lemon? 1oz Amari...

DeeperRootsBrewing: The Perils (and Triumphs) of Experimentation
http://deeperrootsbrewing.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-perils-and-triumphs-of.html
Happiness is how, not what; a talent, not an object". Brew Sessions and Recipes. Wednesday, September 26, 2012. The Perils (and Triumphs) of Experimentation. In mid-July I brewed side-by-side experimental saisons. Had dates and molasses added, and Protagonist Cucumber Saison. Protagonist Cucumber Saison down the drain. I added too much molasses and dates to the Dark Saison, making the taste harsh and overly sweet at the same time. With the Cucumber Saison, I left the cucumbers in secondary too long, ...

Dan's Half-Assed Brewing Journal: Tasting: Langs Lil' Smokey
http://half-assed-dan.blogspot.com/2010/01/tasting-langs-lil-smokey.html
Dan's Half-Assed Brewing Journal. Sunday, January 31, 2010. Tasting: Langs Lil' Smokey. Pours a super dark brown that borderlines on black with a small dark tan cap that’s fairly small even with a aggressive pour. A nice thick collar and thin cap is maintained the entire beer as is a bit of spotty lacing. Awesome feel. It’s thick and rich with velvety smooth body as the carbonation is light and spot on. I wish all my beers had this body. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Minneapolis, MN, United States.
