MN Craft Beer Weeks Bicycle Pub Crawl and Trivia Contest | Friday Night Beer

https://fridaynightbeer.wordpress.com/2011/04/28/mn-craft-beer-weeks-bicycle-pub-crawl-and-trivia-contest

MN Craft Beer Weeks Bicycle Pub Crawl and Trivia Contest. I get the honor of planning the first ever bicycle pub crawl for MN Craft Beer Week. Of course I couldn’t do this completely on my own so I’ve acquired the assistance of fellow beer blogger and bike enthusiest Beckel from the blog Legal Beer. This weekend we’ll be riding the planned route to see how it work. The ride is on May 21st and starts at 10 am at Cafe 28. Then up to the Nomad World Pub. Beer tent and Art-A-Whirl. Here are some helpful links.

I went to the liquor store the other day just to get a bottle of Hop Stoopid to have while grilling only to walk out with 30 dollars worth of beer. And in the end I really didn’t care too much for them but I felt I should get them because they were new. Do I want a life defined by beer? So there you have it. Then end of the blog? PS See you all at Surly Fest, Darkness Day, Darklord Day, Stub and Herbs, Town Hall, Summit Brewery and wherever else we might cross paths. Responses to “.”. Feed for this Entry.

18 days later…. Response to “18 days later…”. Feed for this Entry. Home Brewing Beer Kits. March 30, 2011 at 7:10 am. I agree, it is good to lay off the liquid for a while and clear the system. You’ll probably do it again after the baby is born as you will be tired to say the least! You can always get a great home brew ready the next time you stop drinking and that will give you something to look forward to once you start drinking beer again! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Stuart Raymond | Friday Night Beer

https://fridaynightbeer.wordpress.com/author/dirtyspeed

Author Archive for Stuart Raymond. This is the end. But craft beer was like wine. I wasn’t drinking my hobby out of a paper bag under a bridge. I was at a brewery with six 3oz samples sniffing them and studying them. Alcoholics don’t appreciate liquor, they use it to get drunk, I wasn’t doing that. But I was. That was just another beer to me. I love lambics, the sours but the ABV? What was I going to do on vacations What was I going to do WHAT WAS I GOING TO DO! Own Todd Haug will have a special beer for...

Beer Geek Heaven: Tasting Notes: Moylan's Kilt Lifter

http://www.beergeekheaven.com/2011/05/tasting-notes-moylans-kilt-lifter.html

Tasting Notes: Moylan's Kilt Lifter. I love winter. Skiing, snowshoeing, crisp clean air, and the whole outdoors nearly to myself. After awhile, though, winter wears itself out. I'm ready for spring. Its not that I don't like winter anymore, but I'm ready for a change. Then the first warm day comes along and, even though I've been through many springs before, its magical. Its like a metaphor for my beer:. In the end, I'm glad I get sick of the same old stuff. And I'm glad I have the variability at my...

Beer Geek Heaven: Tall Grass Brewing Co. is making it's way to WI

http://www.beergeekheaven.com/2012/01/tall-grass-brewing-co-is-making-its-way.html

Tall Grass Brewing Co. is making it's way to WI. After working just about every beer fest I can in MN, I got to know this great craft brewery that produced beer in a can. Like you probably already know, there is this thing in my heart for specialty beer in a can and I am totally for supporting breweries that are trying to change the norm. These will be in stock in the next couple of weeks, so make sure to stop by and try them out for yourself. Besides, how can you turn down a great craft beer in a can.

Sour Rye Stout with ECY20 Bug County. Because Flanders Reds are the most common style of dark sour beer, that is the obvious choice, but recently I had the pleasure of sampling The Bruery Tart of Darkness. Here is the description of the yeast from the Love2Brew homebrew supply website. Here is my recipe. I mashed high at 158 degrees and sparged at 168 degrees. Batch Size: 5.5 Gallons. Grisette style Table Saison ~ Dank Brewing

http://dankbrewingcompany.blogspot.com/2012/10/grissette-style-table-saison.html

Grisette style Table Saison. Grisette is a variation of a Saison style Farmhouse ale. Where Saisons were brewed mainly for the farmhands and typically had a lactic sourness,. Grisette was brewed mainly for the Mining community. I thought that this beer would be a nice representation for a MN Saison since Minnesota was built on Iron Ore and grain. In fact, the mining community in Gilbert, MN is where my Great Grandma and Grandpa Paciotti were brought to after coming to America. I can only hope that my gre...

Wee Heavy for French Oak Red Wine Barrel ~ Dank Brewing

Wee Heavy for French Oak Red Wine Barrel. Here is a quick review of the Wee Heavy that our club did for the Red Wine Barrel. I sampled this a month in and it is beautiful. Caramel, sweet, slight Oak. This will probably remain in the barrel for 6-9 months! The clubs recipe was very simple. Half pound of chocolate malt. Then take 2 gallons of the first runnings and boil that down to one quart to get a nice caramelization. Specific Gravity: 1.105 OG. Final Gravity: 1.028 FG. Mash Efficiency : 65 %. RIS - Wh...

Manoomin Knocker - Wild Rice Imperial Mild Ale ~ Dank Brewing

http://dankbrewingcompany.blogspot.com/2012/10/manoomin-knocker-wild-rice-imperial.html

Manoomin Knocker - Wild Rice Imperial Mild Ale. I brewed a batch of beer on the first of October that I thought would be an amazing seasonal beer and I hope to add a Wild Rice beer to my lineup every Fall during the harvest season. I love using local ingredients in my recipe’s whenever possible and after sampling a version of this beer and hearing that it had Wild Rice in it, I thought I had to give it a try! This recipe is inspired by Tim Stuemke who is a founding member of the Nordeast Brewers Alliance.

Trepidation - Belgian Tripel DIPA with Brett Drie and Wyeast French Saison ~ Dank Brewing

http://dankbrewingcompany.blogspot.com/2012/12/trepidation-belgian-tripel-dipa-with.html

Trepidation - Belgian Tripel DIPA with Brett Drie and Wyeast French Saison. I wanted to brew something big for a yeast cake I had of a Session Saison Brett. Because I loved my first version of a Belgian Tripel/DIPA. That I brewed a year ago that was inspired by Houblon Chouffe. In addition to that, I also loved the Anchorage Brewing Bitter Monk. When I had it in La Crosse at The Bodega. Since Wyeast French Saison is similar to Wyeast Belgian Ardennes, I thought it could be a good idea for this beer!
