Great Things: Papaya for Dinner
http://anurseslife-jessi.blogspot.com/2015/01/theres-unremarkable-little-bird-having.html
Sunday, January 18, 2015. There’s an unremarkable little bird having a huge dinner in Yaounde right now. This afternoon, I noticed a little bird was perched on the side of the tree trunk, close to an overripe papaya. I watched him with surprise as he dug his little claws into the tree and then leaned his head back from his perch and took a nibble from the fruit. He got a good start and then he hopped from the tree trunk over to the papaya itself and continued his little mini-feast. Then He is surely capa...

Great Things: December 2012
http://anurseslife-jessi.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 7, 2012. For many years I have thought about how fun it would be in the future to be pregnant at Christmastime or have a baby at Christmastime. I'd love to really understand a bit more of what Mary must have been experiencing. This Christmas, though, I started thinking about how I actually can relate quite a bit to Mary's perspective before. How did she just say a simple "yes" to what appeared to be a complete upset to all her hopes, dreams, and plans? How will I tell Joseph? Those 14 si...

Great Things: June 2011

Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Be brave. Just listen to what I have to say". I couldn't hear anything more because they entered the glass tomb, but I had heard the lesson God was speaking. That momma knew what she was doing. She'd walked through tons of revolving doors and she knew how to safely maneuver through them even though her child did not. The little girl got safely through because she placed her hand in her mom's hand, stuck close, and listened up. Take His hand. Stick close. Listen up. Oil in my Lamp.

Great Things: January 2012
http://anurseslife-jessi.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 21, 2012. A few weeks before Christmas while I was headed home from work, I did something I've never done before: I thanked the Lord for giving me the privilege of being a nurse. As I roamed around the super fun Christmas bash, I ran across a family I had come to adore during their frequent hospitalizations. I hadn't seen them in a long time and so there were a lot of happy hugs and "how are you doings? She asked me. "How do you say 'Thank you for saving my son's life'? The patient and ...

Tuesday, March 15, 2011. The Cat With a “J” Name and What She Taught Me . . . I’d like to introduce you to our cat. We didn. 8217;t want her to feel like she wasn. 8217;t part of the family, so we gave her a “J” name, too: Janie. Janie loves one thing more than just about anything else in the world: eating. Obviously, she fits well into our family. Her dry food sits inside the front door and her food bowl is on the other side of the wall . . . outside. While I watched her sitting still, I thought about p...

Great Things: Hold You?
http://anurseslife-jessi.blogspot.com/2013/05/hold-you.html
Monday, May 13, 2013. The other day I was watching a friend's little 2 year old daughter. We went for a walk down to a nearby swing set so we could play. As we walked down the street, this little gal's chubby fingers clasped my hand as she took two steps for every one step I took. She trotted along like this for sometime, chattering on about "swing" and "mommy" and "mammie and papa" and "birdies". Then she inquisitively said these two sweet words, "Hold you? Her question was simple. My need is simple.

Friday, January 21, 2011. Dirty Love in the Cold. The low tonight is going to be 4 degrees. The ground is covered with snow. . . . it sets me to thinking about the homeless. What about them tonight? I think about them sitting in the mission at 6 PM listening to a gospel message just so they can be sure they get a meal and 90 minutes of warm air. Isn't here to eat, I think to myself. A grown-up girl, with the mind of a child, trails him. She's talking on a cell phone. Her speech and actions betray...An ho...

A Document of Life in the Middle East. February 23, 2009. Given some Time to Focus on Him. Life has a funny way of passing by, and going so fast that it’s easy to stop and remember the details. So I haven’t posted in here in forever. I’m really sorry about that. Keeping people updated on my life is harder than I could have imagined. But life in Lebanon is Good! Thanks for all your notes and for coming to a blog that hasn’t been updated in almost two months! Your love astounds me! Laquo; Happy New Years!
