Whisking Whimsy: Lemon Blueberry Bundt Cake
http://whiskingwhimsy.blogspot.com/2013/01/lemon-blueberry-bundt-cake.html
Creations and interpretations of a passionate foodie. January 22, 2013. Lemon Blueberry Bundt Cake. It would appear it has been well over a year since I wrote anything up. Sorry about that! In 2011 I finally got a job that occupied all of my brain space, and in 2012 I followed it up with the purchase of our first house and the creation of our first baby (due June 2013). So it was a little busy! You can see how many we have to kill off below. This week, I'm trying to use lemons in all of our dinners and s...

Whisking Whimsy: June 2010
http://whiskingwhimsy.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Creations and interpretations of a passionate foodie. June 28, 2010. Is there a more irresistible sign of summer than a farmer’s market full of stone fruits? They have such a short season that if you blink (or go on vacation at the wrong time), you’ll miss the best bites. So you have to make the most of the plums, peaches, apricot, and cherries while they’re available. And of course, that means dessert. Edited from Cook’s Illustrated. 2 ½ pounds fresh peaches (6-7 medium, organic if you can). Despite the...

Whisking Whimsy: Chocolate Whiskey Cake
http://whiskingwhimsy.blogspot.com/2011/05/chocolate-whiskey-cake.html
Creations and interpretations of a passionate foodie. May 5, 2011. It has come to my attention that many people do not care for whiskey. It's not a fun alcohol that gets mixed into fruity drinks, nor is it a clean taste that inevitably is eclipsed by the tonic and lime it's served with. It's darker and smokier, and more real. I think there's something wrong with the people who avoid whiskey. I think that they don't like real drinking. Stolen from Gourmet, September 2005. 2 cups all-purpose flour. Heat co...

Whisking Whimsy: April 2010
http://whiskingwhimsy.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Creations and interpretations of a passionate foodie. April 20, 2010. After days of pondering over what would fill my many free hours in the day, I finally settled on the standard for young women in their late twenties and early thirties – a food blog. It seems that all of the intellectual ladies I know and love have become foodies and bloggers, and I decided to join the club. But what to do for my first post? Adapted from Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa. 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour. 190; cup sugar.

Whisking Whimsy: July 2010
http://whiskingwhimsy.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Creations and interpretations of a passionate foodie. July 6, 2010. I’m competitive. There, I said it. Once, at a team building event, someone asked me why, and I replied that I didn’t really see the point of doing something if you’re not trying to be the best. It may have earned me some funny looks, but it’s true. I’ve lost a lot of hobbies this way. But so fancy lookin’! Adapted from Joanne Harris’ Blueberry Tart, in My French Kitchen. And if you haven’t read Chocolat. For the pâte brisée:. Pull out th...

Gedankenstriche: August 2008
http://gedankenstriche.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 18, 2008. Reading Notes: Kracauer - On Employment Agencies: The Construction of a Space. Social strata are reflected in the spaces that the members of different strata occupy. Suburbs are a result of the growing middle class. Employment agency is the space assigned to the unemployed – opposite of a home. He sees the Employment agency as a physical manifestation of an economic reality. In this world, the power, economic and social, of a person is measured by his distance from the street.
