Thursday, September 30, 2010. Queen of the Sun. Hey, notice the flagrant SEO ing of this post? Yes indeed, to have it score in the world, the phrase Queen of the Sun must be repeated over and over, up to five times. I hope the movie is great.it's made by the same people who created "The Real Dirt on Farmer John.". Http:/ www.queenofthesun.com/. While you're at it, check out the remarkable documenary group. Skip to primary content. February 10, 2015. We start with an extreme close up, as one of the joys of painting for me lies with the textures that seem to occur naturally in the very act of lobbing pigments at a bit of blank paper. Here you can get a better impression of that. To give a sense of scale, in real life her face is about the size of a fat bumblebee. Notes from The Rookery: Bonehill and Honeybags
http://daniellebarlowart.blogspot.com/2015/03/bonehill-and-honeybags.html
Work for Sale Gallery pages. Friday, 27 March 2015. I've been out walking a lot. Walking is a meditation, a soul soothing, a chance to put thoughts in order, or a chance to put them aside. For me, the walking, the intimate knowing of the land, and just as importantly, the naming. Of the land, the poetry of place that enables you to lay a map out in your head, is something I've been obsessed with since childhood. I was tempted to paint them, to draw the characters out of the rocks. I love the heather fore...

Notes from The Rookery: Winter doings
http://daniellebarlowart.blogspot.com/2015/03/winter-doings.html
Work for Sale Gallery pages. Wednesday, 11 March 2015. It's been a busy winter. Ordinary tasks seem to take over in Winter - feeding and caring for the horses, walking dogs in the rain, and just keeping the family fed and looked after. I'm an unsociable bod, and when the days are short and the nights long, I am impossible to drag out from the fireside of an evening. Although I am always happy to be out walking these bleak and beautiful hills in the daylight hours. And all 8 of the wheel cards. Well, that...

Notes from The Rookery: berries, berries, berries!
http://daniellebarlowart.blogspot.com/2009/10/berries-berries-berries.html
Work for Sale Gallery pages. Tuesday, 6 October 2009. Berries, berries, berries! My father came to visit, so I dragged him out in the rain to help me pick berries! We picked rowan berries and sloes, both destined for a couple of nights in the freezer to simulate a frost, before being made into jellies. The crab apples will go in with the berries too, while the haws are cooking at this moment on the stove, in an attempt to make Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's 'Haw-sin sauce'. I'll let you know how it goes!

Notes from The Rookery: High Summer
http://daniellebarlowart.blogspot.com/2015/07/high-summer.html
Work for Sale Gallery pages. Tuesday, 21 July 2015. As Midsummer moves into 'high summer', I have continued to walk, snatching moments in the late evening, when I can find a little breathing space from the chores and stress of life. I am constantly enchanted by the ever changing play of light across this landscape,. The low evening light turns everything to gold. Even the humble nettle appears jewel encrusted in the light of the setting sun. I try, endlessly, to translate this light show into paintings!

Notes from The Rookery: They dined on Mince, and slices of Quince, which they ate with a runcible spoon.
http://daniellebarlowart.blogspot.com/2009/11/they-dined-on-mince-and-slices-of.html
Work for Sale Gallery pages. Friday, 6 November 2009. They dined on Mince, and slices of Quince, which they ate with a runcible spoon. The hard, aromatic fruit has to be cooked, with lots of sugar as it is very sharp, but then it has an amazing flavour, slightly reminiscent of eastern spices, and the jam, which turns pinkish orange has a taste somewhere between mango and apricot - divine! Put in a large pan and BARELY cover fruit with water. Cook on a low heat until quince begins to soften. If at thi...

Myth & Moor: The Dog's Tale
http://www.terriwindling.com/blog/2015/04/the-d.html
Laquo; Spring on Dartmoor. Tension, balance, and walking in beauty ». Wednesday, April 08, 2015. Are a series of posts in which Tilly has her say. I sniff more closely, but I can't quite tell. Shy moss fairies, kindly root fairies, giggly fungi fairies: all these I do not mind. But the winged ones, buzzing through the air like overgrown bees, are tricksy, and they bite. Suddenly a fairy swarm surrounds me, visible only as sparks of light, and I bark in warning:. I've eaten a fairy! I've eaten a fairy!
