Picture Exhibition at Doncaster Museum, 28.3.09. We were given space at the museum to exhibit some of the photographs we'd taken recently. The display was put together by Dave Adshead with customary zeal and, though few in number, looked very well indeed. On the 15th of November the Society gathered for a social meeting at the Austerfield Field Study Centre the main aim was to try and catch a few meteors from the Leonids shower but in reality it turned into a fish and chip supper and a good gossip, a few hardy souls stood around outside which unusually turned out to be reasonably clear but we where out of luck. Out on the good ship Albireo. Twas on the 10th of June we cast off from Strawberry Island to lands anew for the purpose of a picnic, the usual crowd of land lubbers laden with goodies headed through locks a plenty (well at least two) past the far distant shores of Barnby Dun,Fishlake and Sykehouse and towards land where "there be dragons" (a clear patch of embankment with a few cows in the next field). A Solar Watch at Clock Corner on 25.7.09. We held a Solar Watch in the middle of town on a busy Saturday afternoon and had some good response from passers by, when the Sun got through the clouds. Not much on the Sun's disc but it impressed those who stopped to take a look. After the council's silly reply to our request to hold a Moon Watch on Town Field, we decided not to mention it to them and just set up at Clock Corner and had no problems with the local constabulary, who seemed to studiously ignore us.
