Caught by the Tide Series. Debbie Lyddon is an artist and maker based in Surrey and Norfolk, UK. Her creative practice explores landscape and place and includes mixed media cloths, sculpture, installation and drawing. Her inspiration comes from experiencing and paying attention to her surroundings. Cloth is at the centre of my practice and I enjoy the process of making and constructing with it. I experiment with non-traditional materials that relate to a coastal environment such as salt, seawater, wa...

I am a textile artist. I haven’t been up in Wells for a month as my life recently has been taken up with exhibiting and teaching. It has been hectic but exciting. I had a flying visit yesterday for one night as I wanted to go the the AGM of the North Norfolk Exhibition Project. I showed work for this wonderful organisation at Cley Church in the summer and I’ll be putting in a proposal for CLEY17. I sat on a bench quietly to look and listen – there was no one else about. This entry was posted in listening.

Sand and salt bags | debbie lyddon

Sand and salt bags. I’ve had some little pieces drying in the beach hut and they are now done. These are experiments. I don’t know yet if they will be developed into something else but they have several properties that are quite promising. The pieces have been filled with a mixture of sand and salt and soaked in the sea until wet through and then left. They have taken between three and four weeks to dry out fully. Food for thought …. Sunday, November 11, 2012. Believe it or not, no alcohol was consumed in the writing of this post. This weekend, I learned a lot about friendship. But most of all, friendship. I think I've had the easiest path of all of us. But I know I am lucky because we've shared the path together. Seriously. No wine for me tonight. You should see the number of bottles we emptied over the past two nights. Links to this post. Friday, July 27, 2012. Good Grief Jesus Jones. So I called him and let him know that I had the...
