Governance4Unitarians: November 2011
http://governance4unitarians.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 30, 2011. How to win friends and influence people. Was in a discussion about the future direction of the Unitarian community. The thread started by an EC member (the only one who engages on Facebook) begins thus. I'm on the EC. Throw things if you like! But I think he was only joking! My contribution was summed up by him as. Louise Rogers questions's Jen's view that youth are essential to our future . So I did not say that the choices weren't difficult just that they were similar to w...

Governance4Unitarians: July 2011

Saturday, July 30, 2011. Working with our beneficiaries. Having an interview certainly does stimulate my thinking. I know which one I'd choose. When the choice made is user-involvement, more professionals get employed and money gets taken from front-line services. If we think about our own communities we talk mor...

http://governance4unitarians.blogspot.com/2012/03/collective-responsibility.html
Tuesday, March 13, 2012. This blog represents what I think, it does not represent what my local community thinks. But how can we be sure that people understand which hat (or none) we are wearing? Governance4Unitarians: October 2011
http://governance4unitarians.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 14, 2011. I was reminded of when I was brought in very late in the day to help a long-running local organisation to stave off closure. I asked the chief officer and the chair of the Board, 'How much does it cost to run this organisation every month? In these times of financial uncertainty trustees more than ever really need to step up to the plate. Monday, October 10, 2011. The other thing that I am able to do because I am paid to do it is to take action. This organisation has the nea...

Governance4Unitarians: May 2012

Friday, May 25, 2012. Getting back to basics. So what do I mean by this? I have been helping with a business plan for a charity. The first draft was put together by two people who had never done a business plan for a charity before although they had both extensive experience of business planning. I am convinced that whether I can help this organisation or not, I will be in a better position having sketched out the basics or who owns what and who pays for what. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Governance4Unitarians: Charities Act 2011
http://governance4unitarians.blogspot.com/2012/03/charities-act-2011.html
Thursday, March 22, 2012. The Charities Act 2011. Has now been enacted. It doesn't change anything - it. Repeals and replaces the Recreational Charities Act 1958, the Charities Act 1993 and many of the provisions of the Charities Act 2006.'. There is no change in how charities will be governed and managed but all references to charity law should now be to this act. The Charity Commission. This move will certainly make it a bit easier to understand charity law. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
