Developing Spiritual Community: July 2011
http://dev-spiritual-community.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, 30 July 2011. What attaches people to their community. Surfing the Internet for something about soulful community I came across a site. About a project called Soul of the Community. What makes a community a desirable place to live? What draws people to stake their future in it? Are communities with more attached residents better off? Whilst our meeting houses, chapels and churches are not neighbourhoods it is worth thinking about these three characteristics. Friday, 29 July 2011. We have to be ...

Developing Spiritual Community: March 2012
http://dev-spiritual-community.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, 22 March 2012. A sense of place. Local communities are about people. But is that all? Our Meeting House was built on a shoestring in 1717 so it is not per se a beautiful building. I am not a particularly visual person and cannot imagine any photograph could encapsulate what I feel about the Meeting House or the chapel within it. When we use the word 'home' we can feel a warm fuzziness full of emotional content. How would I encapsulate that for our beloved Meeting House? Tuesday, 13 March 2012.

Developing Spiritual Community: August 2011
http://dev-spiritual-community.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 31 August 2011. The nature of services when developing spiritual community. One thing that I have noticed at our Meeting House is that our services are moving away from 'services' and developing into conversations. There is often no sermon. The question, 'what does this all mean for our community? Is never far away. The service then becomes an open conversation within the community about what is valued and our developing spirituality. S about whether we can agree about what ministry is about.

Developing Spiritual Community: Rocky roads
http://dev-spiritual-community.blogspot.com/2012/05/rocky-roads.html
Saturday, 26 May 2012. When we are attempting to do this within a faith community we have to work out for ourselves how we deal with our frustrations - personal and community-focused. We are all called to have faith. Faith in the road - not necessarily any particular direction - but in the imperative to keep putting one foot in front of the other on this road. Or 'Am I really with the right people? There are times when we feel that our needs are not being met - perhaps we have changed or other people hav...

Developing Spiritual Community: April 2012

Tuesday, 17 April 2012. Long may my local community contain people who are moved by experiences of the divine. Long may it contain those who don't. And long may we continue to explore these things amicably together and amicably apart. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Adrian Worsfold's Blog Pluralist Speaks. Living in the Question. Developing Spiritual Community: December 2011
http://dev-spiritual-community.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 14 December 2011. Where Unitarians get their inspiration. And yet more inspiration from Facebook - who would have thought? There was a debate about whether people attending Christian services understood much about the finer points of theology and at some point I wrote. I think that people are much more alive to their own personal relationship with God/the divine and much more open to other influences e.g. the TV, books, the radio and the Internet then in times gone by. Jewish and Christian teac...

Developing Spiritual Community: September 2011
http://dev-spiritual-community.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Monday, 26 September 2011. Who carries responsibility for action within a group? It is so much easier to see a job as belonging to 'you' rather than to' us'. I will get onto doing this job but it would be interesting to wait to see how long it would take before someone actually steps in and volunteers to get it done. In our own communities do we see each job as belonging to someone rather than to us as a community? Thursday, 22 September 2011. Active listening and more. Saturday, 17 September 2011. I was...

Developing Spiritual Community: February 2012
http://dev-spiritual-community.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 28 February 2012. Learning to say, 'No'. Tired - you always look tired, you do too much, you have to learn to say 'no' - well I have done that in this conversation haven't I? The irony was not lost. The previous week I had been at a sub-committee meeting as a visitor - it focuses on the building and I have avoided full-time involvement (because I do too much! And the point of all this? Tuesday, 14 February 2012. It just so happens that it is St Valentine's Day today - whatever that may mean....
