A Brief History of the Devonport – Latrobe – Port Sorell – Sheffield – Kentish Region. Covering the years 1822 – 2016. Early explorers and settlers to Tasmanian tended to bypass the Mersey River, as it was blocked by a sandbar and the banks were heavily timbered. Originally a fishing and sealing port named Burgess, Port Sorell. Grew to become a major port. Received its name. In the same year the area that was to become Latrobe was first settled by B. B. Thomas. The area around what is now Sheffield.

Welcome to the website of. Devonport and District Motor Cycle Club. As before we intend to run 5/6 trials through the year and our trial dates will be found in the South Western Centre fixture list with entry forms in the monthly gazette as well as being advertised in TMX and on this website. We included a route for Oset and conducted riders at our event at Moorhaven and whilst the two riders who competed had a really enjoyable ride, we were disappointed there was not more interest. Perhaps next time.
