The allotment in June - what's growing on?! - dig the outside
http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/06/03/the-allotment-in-may-whats-growing-on
June 3, 2013. The allotment in June – what’s growing on? The weather has been amazing! I hope it’s been good with you too. As a result of this I’ve been busy in my greenhouse, garden and veggie patches and I’ve neglected blogging for some time. I’ve literally been getting home from work, gardening and sleeping for weeks now. Great work life balance, but not so great for the work blog life balance! However, I’ve been given a bit of a kick start back into things via Michelle at Veg Plotting. The tulips are...
An apple a day... - dig the outside
http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/10/11/apple-day
October 11, 2013. An apple a day…. I love growing apples and have mentioned my inherited apple tree. Before. I’ve grown some perfect ‘Pink Lady’ apples this year and I love the sweet taste. There’s nothing like your own home grown apples and I’ve never tasted any as good as these from the shops. Apple and Elderberry make a good combination, especially when stewed. Now I love sharing and have given tons away, so there’s no need for that is there! A few weeks ago I bought a juicer and I’m over the mo...
The late summer harvest - growing apples and pears - dig the outside
http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/08/29/growing-apples-and-pears
August 29, 2013. The late summer harvest – growing apples and pears. I love growing apples and pears and I’m so lucky to have two mature trees in my allotment garden. They were both planted around 4 years before I took over the plot and I’ve been there around 10 years myself now. Baby pears last month, I love the way they grow up in the air! Pears seem to be a lot easier to store, they last longer and they get eaten by Adam very quickly so it’s just apples that I need to work on. Fruit blossom in spring.
Setting the scene for the autumn garden - dig the outside
http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/10/02/autumn-garden
October 2, 2013. Setting the scene for the autumn garden. This weekend felt like summer again, it was sunny and warm and as well as starting my big autumn garden clean up I also enjoyed spending time outside relaxing, tending to the last of the harvest and noticing the changing shapes and shades of autumn. I’m hoping for a sunny October, the reality might not be so good but I still enjoy the plants that continue to thrive despite the changes in the weather. The persicaria provides great ground cover and ...
My Mediterranean inspired container garden - dig the outside
http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/09/03/my-mediterranean-inspired-container-garden
September 3, 2013. My Mediterranean inspired container garden. I love container gardening because I can create gardens in the smallest of spaces and I can easily change my displays as often as I want. I first posted about my little container garden. At the front of my house in May, when I had a really colourful display of spring bulbs in containers around my front door. Inspired by the planting schemes and container gardens I saw during my holiday in Provence,. These classic red pelargoniums. Since my po...

Loosing The Plot: February 2014
http://loosingtheplot.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, 27 February 2014. So for those of you who haven't seen any, I found some more :(. Now the grub on the left is a nice fat one, but on the right is a casing from one that has become an adult, so I know know they are on the loose. Not very happy. Thursday, 20 February 2014. Oooo, sun, oh rain! I should have known this would happen. For all the rest of the plants I have used a chemical killer (sorry all you organic gardeners). I can't risk any of them having grubs hiding in their pots as I ...I man...
Loosing The Plot: I'm back, well sort of
http://loosingtheplot.blogspot.com/2014/04/im-back-well-sort-of.html
Friday, 25 April 2014. I'm back, well sort of. We have had a couple of nice sunny days lately (not today unfortunately) and I have been quite busy, only most of it not in the garden. I have had a lot of ups and downs lately and to be honest I'm not really sure what I am doing anymore. So it was time to get into the garden. I have been pottering around for the last few months but without actually doing anything. I seem to be procrastinating too much. I had already sown some tomatoes, Garten Pearle for han...

Newer posts →. February 24, 2013. The garlic has started to peek through but if you watch very carefully you can almost see the shoots trying to hide from the freezing blasts of wind that have now come to torment us. Last year I used the Utility Room. As a greenhouse with good success… but the Utility Room is now the Kitten’s Bedroom and as much as they’d love to have soil and seedlings to play with I’ll have to be more creative with space this year. February 17, 2013. The lid of the seed box barely cont...

But it’s not exactly a plethora of produce, is it? The Fluffiest Fallabella in the World! Or at least in Ireland). New Year, New Calf! I try t...

Carrot & Cashew Nut Cake – Crafty Sew & Sow
https://craftysewandsow.wordpress.com/2014/07/30/carrot-cashew-nut-cake
Crafty Sew and Sow. A blog dedicated to making and growing pretty things. Carrot and Cashew Nut Cake. July 30, 2014. There’s something about a summer’s day that makes me really fancy a bit of cooling sweet carrot cake. I love the way it sounds healthy, though despite its long association with health food shops it’s far from healthy! Sure you can hide some veggies and some nuts in there but it’s still a naughty little cake. And I love a naughty little cake! A Ticket to Rye. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

October 29, 2013. The great autumn garden clean up…. I love taking photos of my greenhouse from this angle but if you look closely you’ll see that the bed to the front left and indeed the path in front is actually littered with weeds and rubble. There’s also a box of pears and the last apples. Yes, it is the great autumn garden clean up! The clean up this autumn has been particularly hard because I’ve been nesting at home getting ready for the new arrival. Ah, there’s my lovely heuchera! We really enjoye...
