Dispatches From the Far East. Sunday, August 2, 2009. 256 days remaining in this country. It seems so long, but I am already 25% through my tour in Korea. In two weeks it will four months in country, or a solid 33%. I miss my wife, I miss my kid, I miss my life. Though not facing the dander of an operational deployment. The family hardship is just the same. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Getting ready for one of the world's largest military exercises. It will be taking up most of the month of August.

Dispatches From the Far East: 23 Days and a Wake Up

Dispatches From the Far East. Monday, August 31, 2009. 23 Days and a Wake Up. In three and a half weeks, or roughly 23 days, Melissa and Ella will arrive here in the "land of the morning calm" to reunite our family for five weeks. This will be a great as I am seeing a few mysterious trends beginning to happen in my lovely apartment in the Jung Woon Villas. Truth be told, while I would love a "man cave" back in the states that would allow me to get away for a period of time, I would not trade living every...

Me & Mine: June 2014

http://thepetrinifamily.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

June 27, 2014. I truly loved you. And all of the people we met there. The view never got old, and neither will the friendships we made. I know of all of the places we will go in our army life, Newport will always be a favorite. Any duty station that comes after will constantly be compared even though there is no comparison. I see our time living in the City by the Sea as an amazing opportunity; a real treat. One we will never forget, and one we will always treasure. Making use of all that packing paper!

Me & Mine: April 2014

http://thepetrinifamily.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

April 30, 2014. When my NY family came to visit for Sam's birthday, I couldn't just let them sit around in our tiny town home. I wanted to show them this pretty place we live! It was fun playing tour guide with them because they are so easy. They have zero expectations and really just love spending time together as a family. And bonus: they love to end the day drinking beer and wine. My kinda people. Flying kites on Easton's Beach. Such an awesome sky that day! She is my wild child! April 28, 2014. Putti...

October 27, 2014. However, maybe it was the power tool he decided to use. Or the beers. Or the design was just a little difficult. Either way, our jack-o-lantern faced the other way on our porch after it was all over;). I took the kids to the park after church. Gorgeous weather! Can I keep them small forever? Then I took them to the pumpkin patch to pick a carving pumpkin! Best wagon shot I could get. The night view. Nailed it. October 26, 2014. I love the little (huge) neighborhood we moved into! Me & Mine: February 2014

http://thepetrinifamily.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

February 27, 2014. I can't even imagine sleeping like this. Pictures of your kids sleeping never gets old. When I check in on my kids before I go to bed and find them in that deep slumber it makes me happy. They're quiet. The house is quiet. They're alive. It means I survived another day in the motherhood. February 26, 2014. Sorrymy mind went elsewhere for a second. Can you believe this guy turned 10 months old on the 23rd? I guess I need to get on that monthly tie photo. Hmmmm. February 23, 2014. Put on...

Me & Mine: October!

http://thepetrinifamily.blogspot.com/2014/10/october.html

October 3, 2014. October is my favorite month of the year. The leaves change color. The weather starts to cool down. My birthday, our anniversary, my MIL's birthday, and Ella's birthday fill the month along with Halloween of course. So many reasons to celebrate and be grateful. I graciously accept 34 with a smile. Another year older, but looking forward to what this year has to offer. Looks like a flaming ball of fire! Tom thought he was funny to put 34 candles on that cake! Hope it was a wonderful month!

Me & Mine: Neighborhood Fall Festival

http://thepetrinifamily.blogspot.com/2014/10/neighborhood-fall-festival.html

October 26, 2014. I love the little (huge) neighborhood we moved into! I love watching the sunrise from our backyard. Ella wanted her face painted. She has never had it done before because she has never wanted it. Done before. I was shocked! I love the little hood children. Who gave this boy caramel apples? Oh that's right. I did. Me & Mine: July 2014

http://thepetrinifamily.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

July 30, 2014. I can't believe the month of July is already over! We have been living in North Carolina for a month now! Time really flies when you are having tons of fun;). We were so excited to meet up with our Newport buddies in Rocky Mount this week. Wendy and her kids were staying at a lake house for the summer and we decided to meet them halfway so the kids could play together and the moms could catch up! Needless to say when we pulled up, they did not believe we were actually going inside! I think...

Me & Mine: The Martin's Visit!

http://thepetrinifamily.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-martins-visit.html

October 21, 2014. I was so excited when our friend Wendy asked if she could visit on her move down to FL from Newport! To think she actually asked if there was a hotel nearby. As if! I love her and I love her kids, and they couldn't get here fast enough so we could catch up. Bonus: she brought me my favorite bottles of cider from Newport. 4 of them. It was such a treat to have them here even if it was only a night! We wish the Martin's well as they begin their next adventure in sunny Florida!

http://thepetrinifamily.blogspot.com/2014/10/our-10th-anniversary-charleston-trip.html

October 14, 2014. Our 10th Anniversary-Charleston Trip. When I married my husband ten years ago I loved him like no other. We were young, had no clue what marriage truly entailed, but we were excited to finally say I Do after many years together. Fast forward ten years, three children, six moves, a few deployments, and we are more in love and happy than ever before. It isn't always peachy, but we have one heck of a strong, committed love for each other. Happy 10 Years to my OAO! Our hotel was awesome!

About Teach For Us. All Blogs ». Dispatches from the Delta. Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap. A Sense of Time and Place. The softness of the twilight on that particular summer’s evening, my first in the Delta, still brings a chill. I am reminded of what I brought the optimism and naïveté packed neatly in the trunk, the resilience riding shotgun, and the humor asleep in the backseat. I brought all I had, and my intent was to leave as much of it here as possible, to give it away. Read more ».

More than a quarter of a century ago, much of the European center-left made a course change. Dispatches from the Frigid Northlands. Something Good is Bound to Happen! Nostalgia is a funny thing. My favorite game of all time is probably Link's Awakening, the Zelda game for the original Gameboy. I remember playing it for hours and hours, wandering the dungeons and overworld. I have an incredibly amount of nostalgia for Gameboy games. Not so much Gameboy Advance, just original Gameboy. There's something about the aesthetic of GB games that I just love.
