Dragonfly Farm: April 2014

http://dragonfly-farm.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 24, 2014. This little guy is very handsome, he has great markings and waddles, just like his mom and grandmom! To top it off! He has a mustache! Also, just as an updated on Coco, she is doing well! Her babies are doing well! There is a possibility that we will be retaining the chocolate doe. Coco is getting older and since she is one of our special goats, I would really love to keep her mini me! Friday, April 18, 2014. This is Coco's fifth set of kids and she certainly is an expert! Dragonfly Farm: June 2012

http://dragonfly-farm.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 9, 2012. Well yet again I have let the blogging slip my mind as we get into the swing of spring! We have been busy prepping and planting the garden (and even harvesting a little), raising baby goats, raising baby chicks, building the barn and starting the soap making. Barn Update - The roofing material will be delivered on Monday! The roof frame is up and the nailers are in, all we need to figure out is how we get the metal sheets up there! Anika gave birth to Belle and Colt on March 29.

We have even decided to retain Coco's girl,Minnie. She is her moms twin and by the time we retire Coco, Minnie will be ready to take her place as a breeding member of our herd. So, now, we wanted to introduce you to the last of our babies for the year! This is Elliot, he is Ava's single boy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Dragonfly Farm: April 2013

http://dragonfly-farm.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 1, 2013. As we were getting ready to put the animals up for the night so we could settle in to enjoy our Easter meal I noticed Sadie laying down with her legs all locked behind the chicken coop. Chris secured our meal so the dogs did not eat it and came out with towels. I sat with Sadie, in the rain, while Chris put up all the animals. I will work to get pictures of Sadie's babies as well as Lela's! Hope you all have a Happy April First! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome to Dragonfly Farms.

The chickens here on Dragonfly Farm are free roaming birds. We are no longer able to call them Free Range since they get more than 15min of sunlight a day. Our chickens are able to roam all over our property during the day and settle into their coop at night. With all these chickens we get to enjoy nice fresh eggs. Here are some benefits of eggs from free roaming chickens:. According to the study there was 1/3 less cholesterol in the free-roaming eggs. More Vitamin A and E:. They Just Taste Great:.

Pygmy goats originated in West Africa. In the 1950's they were important to the United States for use in Zoo's and to become research animals. Eventually they got into the hands of private breeders and became popular as pets due to their good natured personality and hardiness. Today you can find them on farms, as pets and at petting zoos. Agouti coloring has solid stockings darker than main body color. Muzzle, forehead, eyes and ears accented in tones lighter then the dark portion of the body. Pygmy's ar...

Friday, April 01, 2011. And we got about 6 inches of snow. At least we didn't get the foot of snow like they predicted. It's melting quickly so we didn’t have to clean off the greenhouses or plow the driveway.AGAIN! We’ve been writing a lot about the chickens recently, and while they are fun for us because they are new, we figured we should also write a bit about the other goings on on the farm that are vegetable related as the vegetables are where it’s at for us. The people then stick a transplant into ...
