Cold worth your while. As i like to say . if it's going to be miserably cold, then it might as well snow! Needless to say . when there is snow, this southern girl gets as giddy as a 5yr old on christmas morning! And so we had the "blizzard '09" . at least that's what they are calling it. it wasn't so much of a blizzard though but we certainly got some of the white stuff. Whenever flying into town and viewing the manhattan sky line i say ."that's my city". I am exactly where i need to be right now and i w...

Monday Night Menus: Fall Into Summer
http://mondaynightmenus.blogspot.com/2011/08/fall-into-summer.html
Tuesday, August 16, 2011. Sothat happened. You know, the part when I apparently took over two weeks off from this blog. I'm not quite sure what happened exactly. One huge part of it was that we didn't have potluck for two.whole.weeks. My heart and belly hurt over that one. Yesterday was grey and rainy and just plain gloomy. Potluck was a much needed event. We hosted and decided to make baked rice - my go to dish in soggy, chilly weather. This time we worked with what we had on hand. I chopped up some din...

My time spent in portland and at the gorge was honestly the most fun i've ever had. i was surrouned by awsome people and all our planning proved perfect. we rented an RV which was a great decision . we slept well, we ate well, we partied well! I don't think there is anything i'd have done differently - it was a couple days of easy going bliss, what more can you ask for? On my way out west i had a layover in salt lake city, the salt flats were gorgeous! Cruising down I-84 in the RV . oh so comfy! I did al...

Last weekend i celebrated my 31st birthday. this occasion had the grace of falling on the date(s) that moe. was playing @ roseland ballroom. Saturday started off with dinner @. Their burgers were surprisingly not so great (too big of a burger with too little flavoring) but we found greatness in the deep fried pickles and pastrami with sauerkraut and mustard oil. i don't even like pickles but that was pretty darn good! And of course we had to get a picture with all the girls! This year the freaks had ande...

Monday Night Menus: Birthday Bash
http://mondaynightmenus.blogspot.com/2011/06/birthday-bash.html
Thursday, June 16, 2011. I absolutely love when we celebrate a birthday at potluck. The food always tastes *that* much better and you know there's going to be a fabulous dessert. This past Monday did not disappoint in either regard. We celebrated Rio turning 4 with delicious food and the creamiest birthday cheesecake ever. In addition to the fresh pita, homemade hummus and spicy pickles that we brought, we dined (al fresco, yay spring! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Monday Night Menus: July 2011
http://mondaynightmenus.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 26, 2011. I love seasonal eating, and it's never easier than in the summer. It also helps when you have neighbors who are going away for a couple of weeks and need to clean your fridge.the combination can be quite tasty. Lettuce from the garden. Cherry tomatoes from the garden/farmers' market. Cukes (from the store, but the garden ones are coming along nicely! Olives and some amazing turkish farmer's cheese from the neighbors. Tuesday, July 19, 2011. I love summer potlucks. Came right from ...

Monday Night Menus: October 2010
http://mondaynightmenus.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 28, 2010. Every fourth Monday potluck, after the food has been consumed and the kids are running around, the adults sit around and divide up.meat. For the last year or so a handful of the regular Monday Night-ers have been a part of a local meat CSA. Each family gets anywhere from 5-10 pounds of local, grass fed meat, depending on what they've signed up for. When the opportunity to join in on a meat CSA opened up, we jumped at the chance. My family signed up for 5 pounds of meat, an...

Monday Night Menus: January 2011
http://mondaynightmenus.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 27, 2011. Last night we made a simple dinner.chicken with rice (and mushrooms). But, oh.how I wish we had chicken soup with rice, if only so I could post this:. But alas, soup wasn't in the cards, and instead we settled for roasted chicken parts, sauteed mushrooms, broth-cooked rice and a little mushroom gravy. So, really.it wasn't settling at all. Crispy skin and juicy meat! For the mushrooms, I just sauteed them in a tablespoon of olive oil and added some salt and pepper. Last night's...
