Everybody Has To Be Somewhere

Everybody Has To Be Somewhere. Tuesday, 18 August 2015. Shaftesbury Ferry August 1, 2015. Highway 740 takes you there and the ferry takes you across the Peace River. The first ferry crossing here was built by a farmer in 1951 and the family operated it until the government took it over in 1977. The road heading into the valley suffered a slide at one point. The detour is just to the side. This is not a cable ferry. The ferry is manoeuvred by a tugboat. The tug and barge were built in 1962. Ran across the...

Everybody Has To Be Somewhere: Taylor Siding August 13, 2015

http://www.everybodyhastobesomewhere.blogspot.com/2015/08/taylor-siding-august-13-2015.html

Friday, 14 August 2015. Taylor Siding August 13, 2015. This is what is left of the rail line. I walked across this wooden bridge. I will not do that again in the future, the wood is getting rotten. I also got eaten alive by bugs. A further advantage of exploring in winter. I found a couple of glass insulators in the brush. I posed one for a photo and left it at the scene. Cacti in Alberta. Not a big one. The first I have seen in this part of the province. 14 August 2015 at 07:09. Good place to explore!

Wednesday, 5 August 2015. 5 August 2015 at 08:54. Itd be interesting to know when those buildings were constructed. They look straight out of the old west. 5 August 2015 at 09:07. It would be awesome to see some of your finds, but for now I will just enjoy your pictures BW :-). 5 August 2015 at 19:36. Everybody Has To Be Somewhere: More school markers

http://www.everybodyhastobesomewhere.blogspot.com/2015/08/more-school-markers.html

Saturday, 15 August 2015. Ran across these on the weekend of August 1st and 2nd of this year north of Drayton Valley, Alberta. Usually markers of this type have bronze looking lettering on the steel plate. There is no lettering on these and no evidence of if there ever was any lettering. I wonder if there was a lack of funds on the part of the historical society or if there was a change in how these were done. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What do you do with some spare time? Everybody Has To Be Somewhere: Chedderville Anglican Church

http://www.everybodyhastobesomewhere.blogspot.com/2015/08/chedderville-anglican-church.html

Sunday, 16 August 2015. Just north of Caroline, Alberta on Highway 22 on July 31, 2015. I think it might still be used. I could not get access to the inside. A peek through the windows shows a very simple plainly designed church. No idea how old it is. There is a small cemetary in the back. 17 August 2015 at 09:36. Unusual pews. They look like park benches. The first row had nothing for the parishioners to kneel on. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What do you do with some spare time? West of the 5th.

Confessions of a Train Geek: Elie's Station

http://blog.traingeek.ca/2010/08/elies-station.html

Confessions of a Train Geek. The world's longest running railway blog. Monday, August 02, 2010. I was in Elie, Manitoba a while ago and saw this structure. This HAS to have been a railway station. The style just screams "station" to me, from the freight door on the left to the slight bumped out center section to the lack of ground level windows on the ends, and the roof line. A cursory Google search showed nothing but I'm convinced this was a train station. Anyone have any proof? 2 August 2010 at 19:42.

Confessions of a Train Geek: A Morning in Portage la Prairie

Confessions of a Train Geek. The world's longest running railway blog. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. A Morning in Portage la Prairie. I am normally a "lone wolf" railfan. I find my time to railfan when I can so it's difficult for me to arrange to meet up with anyone else to see trains, plus when I'm alone I get to decide where to go! So when Thomas Sajnovic. Messaged me to ask if I was available, I hesitated for a moment and decided "what the heck! The usual collection of old Geeps were by the shops. BNSF 1685 ...

In the morning of May 3. We had just decided to head back to Winnipeg via the Trans-Canada Highway, and therefore have a CN railfan opportunity. We headed east, and I had to stop in Oakville to check out the grain elevator. again. Onward. we ducked into Elie so I could show him the station-turned-house. Sadly they were destined to...
