We are passionate about cooking with fresh food, feasting with friends, and sharing our culinary adventures. April 30, 2010 by feastingwithfriends. Sorry for not posting this week. It has been crazy! Started a new job working from home – now I know that sounds great but it can actually be quite dangerous. I thought I would still have time to do other things, but I find myself sitting in front of the computer all day and still rushing around to get everything else done. Keep you all posted. F🙂. The best day off | The Inevitable Pear

https://inevitablepear.wordpress.com/2010/04/26/the-best-day-off

An experiment in living life fully. Laquo; Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free What? There must be something about April…. The best day off. April 26, 2010 by inevitablepear. I’ve had a near perfect day today. It started with little A sleeping in an hour later than normal. This means she was raring to go at 7AM instead of 6. Now, I can continue with my mind at ease…. We had a delightful morning: radio playing, Little A running in and out of the kitchen as hubby washed dishes, and I made Eggy Tomato on Toast. Another...

https://inevitablepear.wordpress.com/2010/04/15/thank-you-j

An experiment in living life fully. April 15, 2010 by inevitablepear. I’ve only known J for a little over 4 months. (unbelievable, really) She is a first-time mum, kind-hearted, full of ideas, who also likes crafting and creating. Spending time with them was like tasting what my life could be, so now I have decided to take at least a step or two in the right direction. This year I want to live life as fully as I can. Maybe I’ll produce enough crafty stuff to start a little side business or save eno...

An experiment in living life fully. Laquo; So how was the coffee? The best day off. Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free What? April 22, 2010 by inevitablepear. I said in my first post. How I wanted to try to cook better things for my family to eat. Today was a partial victory. I didn’t run to the shops and buy take-away for Little A and I to eat. Win! No cows were tickled in the making of this dish. We have to avoid gluten and dairy for the time being with my little girl. It’s dead-easy to make. Boil your ...It surp...

(Almost exactly two years from starting this blog, in fact! It’s amazing what gets kept in the dimly-lit recesses of cyberspace. Ah, my beautiful Pear. How I’ve missed you! 8220;Where have you been? Coffee: Baba-style | The Inevitable Pear

https://inevitablepear.wordpress.com/2010/04/21/coffee-baba-style

An experiment in living life fully. Laquo; Thank you J. So how was the coffee? April 21, 2010 by inevitablepear. The first time making Turkish coffee at home with my new briki. I stumbled upon a lovely way to make Turkish coffee the other day- using cardamom in the brewing process. What a tasty idea! Yes, I may be terribly slow and the last person to know about this, but I was excited. But… if she is letting me serve the coffee to her guests, it can’t be all that bad! After doing all this research and le...

German Fruit Cake (Obstkuchen). April 21, 2010. We called the light and airy fruit shortcake my mother-in-law made us all summer. Because she didn’t know what to call it in English. In fact, the first time she wrote down the recipe for me it was in German and she had her family send a German measuring cup and torte pan to me from her home in Stuttgart. I have always shot food and still life images using strobes and am trying to use the wonderful sunlight that streams into my studio instead. Finding t...

Moroccan Bread (Khubz Maghrebi). April 5, 2010. If you love the smell of yeast bread baking and the first hot bite fresh out of the oven but hate the long arduous process then this is the bread for you! I found this recipe to make a prop to go with a Moroccan meal I wanted to photograph. I was disappointed it didn’t brown. It tanned! Moroccan Squash and Chickpea Stew. April 14, 2010. As promised a Moroccan Chickpea stew. Photographing stew can be difficult without a little thought. The veggies and sauce get mushed together. You want it to look appetizing. A plate full of unrecognizable mush is not. Fortunately for me the colors and textures in this wonderful stew were beautiful and delicious. After much research reading lots of recipes, I chose this one from Aida Mollenkamp, Food Network. Squash and Chickpea Moroccan Stew. 1 tablespo...
