Of nanoparticles, cells and polyanions. Available are the PDF of report. I had a sense of déjà vu while reading the project the clear endosomal location of the SmartFlares, regardless of the DNA sequences brought me back to the days when antisense was the technology of the future for medicine. The personal blog of Dave Fernig, thoughts on science and unrelated matters. Laquo; Of nanoparticles, cells and polyanions. June 16, 2015 by ferniglab. I went to a most useful talk this morning by Stephen Carlton (@LivUniOA) on the Univeristy repository. I had whinged about this as being nearly unusable, but then I jumped in on an early version. The repository is now useable, though it is quirky. A few lessons from my efforts to update my entries. Posted in Post publication peer review. Biotechnology and...

The personal blog of Dave Fernig, thoughts on science and unrelated matters. Laquo; A new habit. Congratulations Dr Li and Dr Sun. July 3, 2015 by ferniglab. Much has been written about the peer review process and its flaws. Richard Smith, a former editor of the British Medical Journal has stated that since peer-review doesn’t work, we shouldn’t do it. Move forward a year and the paper is published in another (equally prestigious ) journal, no changes. This is not the first time I have had this experience.

The personal blog of Dave Fernig, thoughts on science and unrelated matters. The symposium on “ Frontiers in Optical Bio-imaging and Microscopy. 8220;, chaired by Jon Hobley and I went really well. All credit to Jon, who did the lion’s share of the work. We also had a unique (for ICMAT, but normal for a Gordon) poster session, with drinks. Sponsored by the RSC. Probing for Caveosomes | Rapha-z-lab-commons

https://raphazlabcommons.wordpress.com/2015/08/04/probing-for-caveosomes

August 4, 2015. August 13, 2015. As mentioned before, one of the things that has been bugging me about the SmartFlares is that they’re not where anyone expects them. EMD expect them in the cytosol (we don’t see them there), I expected them in endosomes and they weren’t really there either. So what could this mystery compartment be? There are not many papers dealing with the uptake of gold nanoparticle-conjugated nucleic acids. One from the Mirkin group. Supporting Information, Figure 5)…. Show cell-based...

Battling Administrivia Using an Intramural Question & Answer Forum – An Assembly of Fragments

An Assembly of Fragments. Battling Administrivia Using an Intramural Question and Answer Forum. The life of a modern academic involves juggling many disparate tasks, and like a computer using more physical memory than it has, swapping. Placing orders, filling in forms, entering marks into a database) that prevent me from getting to the things that I enjoy about being an academic: doing research, interacting with students, reading papers, etc. I would go so far as to say that the mismatch. Imaging with Gold | Rapha-z-lab-commons

August 6, 2015. August 6, 2015. Gold nanoparticles (GNPs, also known as “ colloidal gold. 8220;) have become the subject of large amounts of research in recent years which can mainly be attributed to their unique properties. Their potential applications range from targeted drug delivery to cell imaging. It is their use in cell imaging, specifically photothermal microscopy, that I’m interested in for my summer project.
