Reel Fishing: July 2014
http://reelfishinguks.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 15 July 2014. I decided that I would knock Sam a couple of lures up and invite him out with me on my boat to some of the areas that I have found productive. Here is one of the lures that I made for him:-. This one is a surface lure, he seemed really pleased with it and I hope it brings him some good luck. We started off in a small bay, with absolutely no success. So after half an hour or so we decided to move on, after a while Sam asked his usual "are you confident? Wednesday, 9 July 2014. This ...

http://www.alexmakkfishing.com/2014/08/23082014-pb-chub.html
Sunday, 24 August 2014. 23/08/2014 - Another PB. Yesterdays session resulted in a couple of PB's between me and Ian,. The new PB chub of 3lb 12oz. But wait, there's more. I moved further downstream, swapping my little alphabet for a different patter and flicked it under some overhanging trees and felt another sudden sharp tug and weight pulling and lunging. Another chub! 4lb 2oz Chub graces the net! New PB for me. Ian's PB Chub of 4lb 6oz. I found it quiet unusual that there were no perch showing any int...

Alex Makk's Fishing: 16/07/2014 - Another nice perch along with a lovely pike
http://www.alexmakkfishing.com/2014/07/16072014-another-nice-perch-along-with.html
Wednesday, 16 July 2014. 16/07/2014 - Another nice perch along with a lovely pike. I had another few hours yesterday evening spent fishing the R.Trent with Ian. I myself was using the minnows/slashbait yet again with a few nice results. The tally for that session was 5 fish 3 of which were perch, 1 a pike and a small gudgeon! This Pike certainly liked my minnow as it gave a really good scrap on the Sakura Shinjin baitcast rod I have been using of late. Such beautiful markings on the pike.

Alex Makk's Fishing: Session reports for 8th & 13th July '14
http://www.alexmakkfishing.com/2014/07/session-reports-for-8th-13th-july-14.html
Tuesday, 15 July 2014. Session reports for 8th and 13th July '14. Within the past couple of week I've been glued to youtube and various bass angling sites on how our American counterparts fish with minnows, or more commonly known over there as 'Jerkbaits'. As recently I received some floating and sinking minnows from being sprayed by Mark Houghton with this method of lure fishing in mind. Minnows recently sprayed up by Mark. Perch of 1.2lb. Ian Jack of a few lbs. All in all I can happily say that Sunday ...

Alex Makk's Fishing: first on cheap metal vibra baits
http://www.alexmakkfishing.com/2014/06/first-on-cheap-metal-vibra-baits.html
Saturday, 14 June 2014. First on cheap metal vibra baits. They seem cheap enough at a quid each to throw in any (snaggy) swim and (providing you have the right retrieve) have a great action too. I have witnessed Zander being caught on a branded version that cost a fiver each! I managed two perch on the copper one and more hits than I can remember! These baits and more can be found on Mark's eBay Shop HERE. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). An Anglers Dangling Log. Stewart Bloor's Angling Journal.

Reel Fishing: December 2014
http://reelfishinguks.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, 14 December 2014. Setting off, the thermometer showed a chilly 3 degrees celsius and the day was bright and calm. After a short drive I arrived at the venue to find it empty.perfect. After getting the gear sorted I baited up with a good handful of pinkies and half a dozen worms that were broken up to get the perch rooting around. As the lake was empty I decided to bait another swim up in the same way.just in case. The pattern continued feed a few pinkies and two or three broken worms, rig in, flo...

Reel Fishing: Last of the summer wind
http://reelfishinguks.blogspot.com/2014/09/last-of-summer-wind.html
Wednesday, 24 September 2014. Last of the summer wind. That brightened things up a bit anyway. I carried on to fluff a few chances on the dry fly but there were not that many fish moving, the river was still spectacularly low and clear. despite it being a bit of a shocker fishing wise I decided that if i packed up I definitely would not catch so carried on regardless. It wasn't a monster but quite chunky and a lovely buttery yellow/gold colour. I was quite pleased to have caught one in such a short t...

Reel Fishing: North Wales Pike Fishing
http://reelfishinguks.blogspot.com/2014/09/north-wales-pike-fishing.html
Tuesday, 2 September 2014. North Wales Pike Fishing. So moving swiftly on to things that I can remember and have a few pictures of. After the trip away with the boys, I was back on family duty. We had a few weeks away on a family holiday, again in Wales. Now even though this was a family holiday, and the beer intake subsided, there was still chance to pop out for a few fishing sessions when the opportunity arose. The scales went round to just a little over 10lb and I got a few pics of his new PB 10lb 2 oz.

Reel Fishing: Winter Fishing
http://reelfishinguks.blogspot.com/2015/02/winter-fishing.html
Sunday, 8 February 2015. First up was another go for some winter perch so armed with a match rod and one of my trusty centrepins I set of to a local stillwater. It was not too long before I started to get some interest from some small perch with the float going under regularly. The perch were taking the worms with confidence. I continued to feed the swim with red maggots in the hope of attracting some better fish. First cast resulted in a fish that felt better straight away, it stayed deep and plodded ar...
