Indian Walkabout

Thursday, December 07, 2006. Here I am in Mumbai, my last stop in India! The mountains and wilderness have a strange capacity to reinvigorate, to recharge ones worn batteries and to bewilder, leaving us gazing at our own relative insignificance in the face of the mighty world out there. The city has an energy of its own, but its strange how such a crowded place can also feel so lonely and foreign after spending time in some of the most remote parts of India. Indian Walkabout

http://fivemonthsinindia.blogspot.com/2006/11/hello-from-rajasthan-once-more.html

Sunday, November 05, 2006. Once more, traveling took over and I forgot the blog I had diligently been keeping. Also, I suppose the urge to write is somewhat subdued when traveling with someone one can share experiences with. Anyway, 2 weeks have passed since I last wrote from Hampi and I feel like I have covered a vast tract of historical India during this time. I'll try to give a brief account of each of these to give them all the credit they deserve. Well what to say? From Delhi we went to Bharatpur.

Thursday, November 30, 2006. Varanasi at dawn- this is a picture of the quieter northern ghats viewed from the boat. Darjeeling on a clear day-the largest peak is Kanchenjunga, the world;s . The views from Gangtok are similar, but i don't have a good pic as it has been fairly cloudy here. Posted by sajir at 4:14 AM. There appeared her shadow. Clad in fur coat. A suit of soot. Her clear green soul. Sugar plum fairy steps. With eyes of faith. Could be parted to. To shrug the lies. The text of which. Lookin...

Indian Walkabout: July 2006

http://fivemonthsinindia.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 30, 2006. Back from the weekend in Witney, just west of Oxford, where I had a brilliant time at Nitin's and Sarah's. A big thank you for organising it all and being such brilliant hosts! The next 'sesh' is eagerly awaited. See you all soon. All set to leave after some late night packing. My travel pack's still reassuringly light despite the kettle! Next post hopefully from Vellore, where I'm meant to start work as from Wednesday. Farewell to you all for now.S. Posted by sajir at 4:43 PM.

Malawi Ulendo: Poised for Noise

http://ashtinafrica.blogspot.com/p/poised-for-noise.html

Wavelengths sway forth carried by the wind. My window winds itself up as I utter wingdings ! My mind is numb with wine. Mine is winter’s fuel. To stray drumbeats I whine. I find myself astray in a minefield- dragged away from my essays by a baseless bass. I am debased and find no base for that in basic logic. This percussion has me concussed. There is no case for discussion. I am nonplussed! This audio cloud just won’t come down! Yet the whirlwind swells up with yells and hurls.

http://ashtinafrica.blogspot.com/2011/10/lake-of-stars-2011.html

Lake of Stars 2011. Could you blame me for banging on about it? And better still watch him perform (Blantyre Arts Festival next week). So that was the Lake of Stars in a more of a watermelon- than a nut-shell! But this event is so exciting that one can’t help recounting it other than with the most elaborate descriptions. And I assure you, even so, I’ve missed out loads more. Sophie wih Inanga. SOrry to hear about your phone - mongrels! 8 October 2011 at 01:52. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Malawi Ulendo: Mala Oui

http://ashtinafrica.blogspot.com/p/mala-oui.html

J’ai mal a l’ouie. Dans ton malaise inoui. Resonnent vifs dans l’air ivre. De tes soirs qui se livrent. A une demence qu’on ne trouve pas. O mal, Ah oui! Parfois tu me nuis. Et je nie to genie. Parmi tes malades nuits. Je m’evade mais ne fuis. Car ici, je m’encadre, donc je suis. Je poursuis, je construis. Et je m’enfouis. Dans l’arcade de ta vie. Oh Mala, OUI! Tu trouveras dans ce pays. Des centaines de milliers de nids. Dans chacun plein d’amis. Qui, comme toi, tout petits. Te feront des cuit-cuits.

http://ashtinafrica.blogspot.com/2011/11/clinical-digest15-cutting.html

Lets place credit where it is due. Cause if we can give it to the likes of Thatcher, Bush, Churchill (not exactly famous for his racial ideas), Mitterand and the rest where they're deemed to have been successful without provoking such controversy, then I think we can grant Gaddafi his claim to fame. Is it right to come to Africa for cutting? 8220;I don’t know what the interview panel will think about the experience I gained abroad, given it’s a different system.”. 8220;Don’t worry about it! Malawi Ulendo: Enter Chilldom

http://ashtinafrica.blogspot.com/2011/09/enter-chilldom.html

You can plan a nice long relaxing weekend up Mulanje mountain with plenty of time to recover or you can tag it on to the end of an epic conference at least 6 hours away, while being the official team medic for an expedition of 18 women! Guess which one I chose! It was certainly not for the 18 women that I did it, let that be clear, as really I would rather be with 18 loud and smelly Mauritian men, if only for their. I should have felt refreshed to resume work in the best of shapes after this escapade, bu...

Breast Cancer & Beyond: A Survivor's Tale

Breast Cancer and Beyond: A Survivors Tale. Monday, November 7, 2011. Two, Infinity, and Beyond. This week I will celebrate two full years since the completion of my treatment. I am still living cancer-free. I'm healthy and PREGNANT to boot. Who knew? So, two years out of treatment and a year and a half since my last post- what have I been doing? Started a new job. Five months in Cambodia. Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Hello, English-speaking friends and strangers. The following entry ended up being in Norwegian, but the others will still be in English.). Hvordan kan man mishandle et menneske til døde, en person du aldri har møtt, bare fordi direktivet sier du skal? Er det ikke vanskelig å gjøre det? Five months in Japan: bits of our family adventure

I can't believe more than one month has already passed since my last post! It's not that I don't have anything to share, but I am enjoying my free time a lot and can't find time to update this blog (which takes a lot of time). For today, I selected a few pictures to illustrate some of the traditional Japanese aspects you can find in Kyoto and around. Hope you'll enjoy it! Player of traditional koto instrument. Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Au revoir, Paris! Tuesday, January 26, 2010. List No. 4. It is my second-to-last day in Paris and I am currently stuck sitting at my desk. Which brings me to. Things I would rather be doing right now than studying for a final exam:. 1 Ice skating outside the Hôtel de Ville. At least, I think the rink is still open - it's certainly cold enough out today. 2 Going for one last hurrah at the soldes. They only happen twice a year, after all. 4 Getting some coffee and pastries à.

Life in the Maldives | a five month adventure

Life in the Maldives. A five month adventure. September 7, 2014. The Maldives from the air. This week marks a year since we first arrived in the Maldives, and we have now been back longer than we were there. It’s past time to write this final blog of reflections on our time there. It really should have been written months ago; but returning to the old life, slipping back into the old routines as though we never left; somehow the final blog slipped off the radar. Welcome to my Warsaw. Thanks and farewell Warsaw. My fivemonthsinwarsaw has come to an end, and so has this blog. I want to say thanks to many people who made my stay rich and rewarding.
