Minimalism masquerade | FM Ramblings
https://thefmramblings.wordpress.com/2015/01/08/minimalism-masquerade
January 8, 2015. Due to a cock up with my screenshot system and an unwillingness to trawl back for some and an inability to trawl back for others this will be a ‘brief’ update of the second season at Lokomotiv and Russia. I plan to get back on track with the third season that is now underway, but didn’t want to leave a season sized gap with no explanation. Aided by an injury to Zlatan in the group stage we dispatched the Swedes in a tight game and had a favourable draw saw us facing Greece in the quarter...

All aboard | FM Ramblings
https://thefmramblings.wordpress.com/2014/11/11/all-aboard
November 11, 2014. I toyed with Denmark and Switzerland but the small leagues (12 and 10 teams respectively) put me off. I then settled on Russia, ranked 23. In the in-game world rankings and 30. This will be my first Club and Country save so I am going to be winging a lot of it. My understanding of a C&C save is to utilise the club for the benefit of the national side on the understanding that success with one will benefit the other. I decided to part company with some of the excess physiotherapists ret...

Steaming forward | FM Ramblings
https://thefmramblings.wordpress.com/2014/11/21/steaming-forward
November 21, 2014. No sign of the train puns running out of steam just yet…. At the end of the last update we were sitting in third place after seventeen games and I hadn’t alluded at all to how things were going with Russia. One concern I had with the Russian side was the perception that it was made up of older players. After checking the initial squad selected by my assistant this perception was confirmed with 14 of the 23 man squad being 28 or older. The Netherlands defeat was a experimental line up a...

Turkish Delights? | FM Ramblings
https://thefmramblings.wordpress.com/2014/09/12/turkish-delights
September 12, 2014. The club ply their trade at the Kadir Has Stadium in Kayersi which is a city in central Turkey. When I took over I shared a photo of the stadium on twitter and quite a few seemed impressed. I think the word ‘spaceship’ was used on more than one occasion. Next to arrive was Caio Henrique, a Brazillian free agent signed as an attacking wing back. He was a good age and although not Turkish, by far the best option available to us with our limited financial clout. I was quietly confident t...

Lost in the Excitement | FM Ramblings
https://thefmramblings.wordpress.com/2014/10/24/lost-in-the-excitement
Lost in the Excitement. October 24, 2014. Now here in BETA form I have subconsciously drifted away from the current incarnation, leaving poor old Kayserispor in the Champions League qualifiers. I have read that a number of gamers struggle to motivate themselves to play when the new version is just around the corner and I must admit that I do find myself ensconced in that bracket. Island or coastal clubs. Quirky or unusual stadiums. From longlist to shortlist. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are commentin...

From Moscow with love | FM Ramblings
https://thefmramblings.wordpress.com/2014/11/16/618
From Moscow with love. November 16, 2014. This piece should have been about the country aspect of the C&C save but I’ve decided to do a little more on Lokomotiv as I am still getting the Russia piece right in my head. This approach was based on maintaining possession and squeezing the opposition and the results were almost instant. The games below the red line are post switch up until the winter break. Ten wins from twelve games with no defeats was extremely pleasing, and at this point I am happy to be p...

From longlist to shortlist | FM Ramblings
https://thefmramblings.wordpress.com/2014/10/27/from-longlist-to-shortlist
From longlist to shortlist. October 27, 2014. After being caught on the hop by the BETA release I have accelerated the selection process for my first ‘proper’ FM15 save and have reduced the long list from 33 teams to 20 and then again down to a final six. Whilst adding in a few of my own principles and aims to keep things interesting. The six that made the cut are as follows (with their FIFA ranking in brackets);. OFI Crete and Greece (18). Dinamo Bucharest and Romania (21). OFK Beograd and Serbia (46).

Back once again | FM Ramblings
https://thefmramblings.wordpress.com/2015/01/31/back-once-again
January 31, 2015. At the end of the last update we had just finished 3rd in the league for the second season running and rather bizarrely made it to the final of Euro 2016 narrowly losing out to the Belgian golden generation. I am more confident in the medium term as I have identified a nucleus of talent between the ages of 15-18 who I think can be developed in to players strong enough to cut it at international level. The final prospect to mention is 15 year old goalkeeper Evgeny Kuzmin who appears to h...
