CONNECT WITH US ON FACEBOOK. BRIDGE OVER HYDE RUN. SODA and ICE CREAM STAND. Running throughout the park is Hyde Run, a tributary of the Red Clay Creek. Hyde Run splits the park into two sections, so there were a series of bridges throughout the park to help patrons access all that the park had to offer. A new bridge was erected on this site in 1999 to help people visit the old section. Prior to 1999, you had to cross Hyde Run from rock-to-rock. Proceed up the Boardwalk. Back to the Ladies Pavilion.

Two years later, the three homes of Matthew Newkirk and his two daughters were connected to form the second Hotel, which was later enlarged with the addition of a third floor. It was referred to as the old Hotel during the amusement park era and was used as a rooming house for the acts that performed in the park. Back to the Dance Hall.

Lake Washington has been restored. The Friends of Brandywine Springs would like to thank the New Castle County Special Services Department staff for their long-term commitment and hard work to get this restoration project completed. By using the worn brush dimensions we determined the commutator was approximately 16 -inches in diameter. This is a photo of Sam Harris, an electrical engineer, circa 1900.
