Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Why Write a Headnote. A quote if it serves your purpose well. To recap: there are several reasons to write a headnote:. 1) You are telling a little story or history about the dish or the person who prepared it. 2) It is a good place for substitutions suggestions or general uses: "Basic chicken stock is great, not just for soup, but for sauces and stews. I also use it instead of water to make a flavorful rice.". How much info did you get out of those few lines? Did you want more?

The cheese was one of those experiments, Dave said. He called over his son, Matt, who was washing the Dutch molds in which they make their Gouda and Trappist cheeses. Where are those basket-cheese experiments? He asked. Can you get one out? Anne Jones of Latte Da Dairy. Told us a similar story that morning as we chatted to...

Friday, February 20, 2009. Someone gave me the Koreana. Kimchi is basically a fermented food, mostly cabbage and very spicy, with a number of additional ingredients. A lot of the types are all-vegetable but a number of them include fish. It is available in most grocery stores but I would like to investigate where there might be unusual types available locally, either in Asian groceries or from stores in the Seattle International District. About The Shoofly Project. A Love Letter to Robert. In 2010 Robert Reynolds. My dear teacher and friend, had cancer. But that year he battled it out and walked it off. He baked cakes for the nurses who shot chemo up his veins and snuck Armagnac into infusion rooms so as to properly celebrate the last shooting up. I'd say he went back. The first sign of the cancer's awakening was a word. His loss. That vast field is his home. To lose a word - Death to a writer. Robert's committed friend and caretaker, say...
