FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD!: July 2011

http://foodgloriousfood-toto.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 06, 2011. I've had a pause and I'm going to continue pausing for a little while. It is hard to enthuse about the cooking when you don't feel much like eating. In the meantime, I hope you like these pictures I took the day my pup, Sinbad, was momentarily reunited with his sister, Bramble, who has spent the past year living in Germany. Two peas in a pod! FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD!: April 2011

http://foodgloriousfood-toto.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 29, 2011. Royal Wedding Red Velvet Cupcakes. What a wonderful British celebration! Here at Food, Glorious Food! How fortuitous it was that the theme for this month's Forever Nigella. I found that the mixture made a few more than the stated 24 cupcakes but I don't make huge ones. Similarly, I seem to have a huge amount of icing left over, despite topping with a reasonably generous blobs. If you like your cakes to be more icing than cake, then the full amount may be just perfect. And hosted, ...

Cloves from 1.5 heads of garlic. 20cm piece of ginger. 250ml light soy sauce. 1 litre rice wine vinegar (not to be confused with rice wine). 1kg light muscovado sugar. 5 Return...

FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD!: Banana muffins (with a little chocolate for good measure)

http://foodgloriousfood-toto.blogspot.com/2007/11/banana-muffins-with-little-chocolate.html

Sunday, November 18, 2007. Banana muffins (with a little chocolate for good measure). One of my less attractive traits is that I am rather a bad looser. I like to get things right. First time. So upset was I with my muffin disaster that I resigned myself immediately to a life of purchasing (rather than baking) muffins. They did have the right texture. And they were delicious. I am therefore prepared to give muffins another whirl - can anyone tell me where I am going wrong? 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence.

Yes, i ought to change the title. Monday, 23 June 2008. Warm Potato and Pancetta Salad. Monday, 16 June 2008. Rhubarb and Ginger trifle. Simple, stewed rhubarb, poured over the cake base whilst still hot. About six medium sticks of rhubarb, a few tablespoons of sugar, and a splash of water is all I used, cooking it for a little longer than normal, hoping that if it was more liquid it may soak into the sponge a little more easily. Every trifle must be decorated. Here, I cut some stem ginger from the j...

addicted to pi: A roast duck leg with plum chutney

http://addictedtopi.blogspot.com/2010/01/roast-duck-leg-with-plum-chutney.html

Yes, i ought to change the title. Sunday, 17 January 2010. A roast duck leg with plum chutney. Next came stage one of the aforementioned over-complication. I knocked together a chutney - a syrup of sugar and water with some stoned, chopped plums thrown in - spiced with cinnamon and cumin, and a splash of white wine vinegar for a sweet-sour taste. Perfectly lovely, actually, and very well balanced compared to the over-sweet versions I've made before without the vinegar. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Wednesday, June 15, 2011. 1/4 c soy sauce. 1/3 c orange marmalade. 2 garlic cloves, minced. 3-4 lbs. country style pork ribs. In a bowl combine the soy sauce, marmalade, ketchup and garlic. Pour half into the bottom of the crock pot. Place ribs over sauce and then poor the remaining sauce over the ribs. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or until tender and ENJOY :). I had half a piece and quite honestly could have eaten the whole tray. I really love the blog. 11 T butter, softened (I used margarine).
