Friday, September 26, 2008. This green spikey one is as of yet unidentified. One of the strange things about this little one is it seems to have no legs, crawling almost like a slug. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Today was a little warmer so I took a walk outside and spotted a shiny thing on the ground. Being ever curious I took a closer look. Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Today I went to clean out the jar I have my Euchaetes egles in and found I was missing one of them. .How could that happen? They are in a glass mason jar and I have old style metal screen under the ring. There is no way out. Then I found a fuzzy little back lump. One of them has made it's cocoon. I wonder how long it will be untill it hatches. Well I looked it up on Wikipedia and it seems it will be after the winter when it hatches. Labels: Euchaetes egle cocoon.

Friday, September 26, 2008. I believe this is a Euchaetes egle or the layman terms Milkweed tussock moth; Milkweed tiger moth. It has not as of yet made a cocoon, but the same as the Monarch we'll pin a couple and let the rest go. Will post pic when it makes a cocoon and when it emerges. Labels: Milkweed tiger moth.
