A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Thursday, 30 January 2014. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Every night, after Ladybug and Rocket Boy have showered (or bathed) are in their pajamas and snuggled up in bed, their Daddy reads them a couple of chapters from a book. A week ago they finished reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, I asked Rocket Boy what happened in the book. With water they melted the wicked witch of the west. That's all, that's the end of the story. ". Ladybug had to circle ...

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: July 2013
http://homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Saturday, 6 July 2013. Chocolate Self Saucing Pudding. Today is our Church Midwinter Christmas Dinner. What is a midwinter Christmas Dinner? That might sound like a lot of hard work, and a lot of puddings. Typically one of these desserts are gone in one sitting with my family (once you go back for seconds when the kids are in bed) but why would I add that much stress to my day if I knew I couldn't do it. What was the verdict? 189; cup milk. Add th...

http://homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Saturday, 22 February 2014. Rocket Boy LOVES watching MythBusters, always hanging out for a new episode, but will happily watch old ones over and over. A few weeks back we watched one of the Alaska specials where they tested a myth about a unsinkable aircraft carrier made out of Pykrete. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. A slab of pykrete. Pykrete is made of 14 percent sawdust and 86 percent water by weight. Daddy is cutting up newspaper.

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: November 2013
http://homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Thursday, 21 November 2013. It's good to look back at the end of the week to see what you've managed to accomplished, especially if you feel like you haven't really managed to do anything. Rocket Boys swimming is improving so much this summer, after months and months of lessons and no improvement showing it seems to have finally kicked in. Tuesday was a mix, as we had managed a trip to the doctors I knew we were stuck at home until Ladybugs stomac...

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: March 2013
http://homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Monday, 25 March 2013. I've been trying to get postcards sent to Rocketboy from all over the world for us to study. It may sound funny, studying postcards, but there is a lot to learn from one piece of cardboard and its travel to your letter box. Things to look at on a postcard can be the stamp, the postmark, where it came from, and of course what is on the postcard front and the writing on the back. Tomorrow we'll go for a walk to post our postca...

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: Our 2014 Learning Zone

A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Wednesday, 29 January 2014. Our 2014 Learning Zone. We have a calendar which I've gotten so slack at doing every day with the kids, but will hopefully get into a better routine now that Ladybug has started back at Montessori (today was her first day back) and all our extra curriculum start back next week. Also on our wall is our alphabet tree, this is for Ladybug and each week when she completes a letter in the LOTW curriculum. Currently our frogs...

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: A Visit to the Museum
http://homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2014/02/a-visit-to-museum.html
A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Friday, 7 February 2014. A Visit to the Museum. We are currently studying New Zealand which I imagine will take a few weeks if not longer depending on how sidetracked we get. As Daddy had the week off work I took advantage of this and got to take Rocket Boy out for some one on one at the Waikato Museum. We visited the Ngaa Pou Whenua exhibition. We also visited the Never a Dull Moment! Never a Dull Moment! We will probably visit the Museum again a...

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: The Boxcar Children
http://homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2014/02/the-boxcar-children.html
A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Monday, 3 February 2014. It's just a bunch of children that were running away from their Grandfather, they thought the Grandfather would be bad to him, they didn't know that he was actually a nice rich man. That's basically they ran away from their Grandfather and lived in a Boxcar and then a long time after that they meet their Grandfather and he's a nice loving Man, and that' the end of book one, the end.
