Homeschooling Aotearoa Style

A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Saturday, 22 February 2014. Rocket Boy LOVES watching MythBusters, always hanging out for a new episode, but will happily watch old ones over and over. A few weeks back we watched one of the Alaska specials where they tested a myth about a unsinkable aircraft carrier made out of Pykrete. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. A slab of pykrete. Pykrete is made of 14 percent sawdust and 86 percent water by weight. Daddy is cutting up newspaper.

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: September 2013

http://www.homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Monday, 23 September 2013. Rocket Boy decided to choose definition 2. of, pertaining to, or having tones of one color in addition to the ground hue: monochromatic pottery. This is Santa's Sled, which I built in one colour. But the mini figure was just from my collection.". Again Would love to see photos of any others creations, please email me any photos at homeschoolingaotearoa@gmail.com and I'll add them to this post. Hubby and I are now on weig...

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: Waitangi Day

http://www.homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2014/02/waitangi-day.html

A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Wednesday, 5 February 2014. Today is Waitangi Day in New Zealand. On February the 6th 1840 the Treaty of Waitangi was signed. The Treaty was between the Queen of England - Queen Victoria, and the Maori Chiefs. It was only signed by some 40 Chiefs on the 6th of February, and many many more signatures were obtained after this. There were also many Chiefs who did not sign the Treaty. Here's what Rocket Boy wrote about the Treaty. A Visit to the Museum.

Homeschooling Aotearoa Style: Letter of the Week - Letter B

http://www.homeschoolingaotearoa.blogspot.com/2014/01/letter-of-week-letter-b.html

A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Friday, 31 January 2014. Letter of the Week - Letter B. B is for Butterfly. If you ask Ladybug what letters we've covered she will say Butterfly, not B. But that is not the point of doing this with her, it's to have fun and maybe some of it will sink in while we're playing. Colour matching, also clipping spring loaded pegs onto cards are a great motor gross skill. And here's this weeks letter for Ladybugs alphabet book. It's supposed to be a b...

A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Friday, 6 December 2013. Truth in the Tinsel. For the last 2 years I've been reading about a Christmas craft curriculum on one of my favourite homeschool blogs 1 1 1=1. Called Truth in the Tinsel. Every day there is a clue, scripture, a ornament to make and something to talk about with your kids. The following Christmas ornaments represent Light (made by Ladybug) and Kingdom. (made by Rocket Boy) and are now proudly hanging on our tree. Two weeks ...

A New Zealand homeschooling mother telling it how it is . Thursday, 31 October 2013. Tuatara by Simon Willison, on Flickr. Well today went well and having a time schedule and mine craft as a reward is still working. Started off with the painting of the labelled bones on her skeleton puzzle from yesterday. She did half before she started losing interest. She is not a big colouring type person, so what she did was great. Wednesday, 30 October 2013. Tuatara by Simon Willison, on Flickr. The Ramblings of a Multi-tasking Mama: October 2014

http://multi-tasking-mama.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

The Ramblings of a Multi-tasking Mama. Friday, October 31, 2014. On the Big Screen. Some homeschool friends from "up North" visited us recently and as they are younger and quite technically savvy they teach us something new about electronics each time they visit. On this trip they explained to us about a cord that goes from your TV to your laptop, video camera, etc and you can watch the stuff that is being displayed on the small screen on your big screen TV. The Ramblings of a Multi-tasking Mama. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. The girls marched in yet another ANZAC Parade this year. Agent Smelly was particularly excited because it was her first time marching as an actual Guide. She so loves being in the older group. Behind the girls are the wooden poppys that were made this year and placed in various public areas around town. Don't they look fabulous? Links to this post. Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The bark of a Dogwood tree is quite distinctive. We noticed that the leaves came in pairs, with one directly opposite another. Except this one. It had three leaves. Curriculum for 2011 / 2012. Tuesday, May 08, 2012. The blog has been quiet lately. I had a ton of posts planned.drafted in my mind just waiting to be shared. But when I prayed, God was saying "farewell". What do you mean, God? That makes it seem like you want me to say goodbye. That couldn't be what you want. And just as clearly as I heard him tell me he wanted me to start, I've heard him gently tell me to stop. Thank you for your comments, prayers and support of this little blog. Links to this post.
