Hip Hack: March 2010
http://hiphack.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 18, 2010. I'm all screwed up. Three appointments this week: CT scan, consultation with the radiation oncologist, and an appointment with Dr. Mayo. The other picture is a slice from the CT scan which shows a chunk of bone blocking the front of my hip. Mouse over to see the ectopic bone shaded red. So instead of this being a shorter surgery scheduled in the afternoon to fill out the day's surgery docket, this will have to be the main surgery for the day. Next up is another CT scan April 19t...

Hip Hack: A helpful tool for visualizing bones and muscles
http://hiphack.blogspot.com/2010/12/helpful-tool-for-visualizing-bones-and.html
Saturday, December 18, 2010. A helpful tool for visualizing bones and muscles. My fellow hipsters will appreciate a new tool Google Body. It's even searchable, so you can just type in the name of a body part (e.g. "rectus femoris") and voila! You can control the transparency of the different layers (skin, muscle, bones, organs, circulatory system, and nervous system) so you can see only what you're interested in. Hip Hack: Day 27 (SDH+26, PAO+21): heel sores
http://hiphack.blogspot.com/2009/10/day-27-sdh26-pao21-heel-sores.html
Monday, October 19, 2009. Day 27 (SDH 26, PAO 21): heel sores. While in the hospital my heels started getting very tender. Because I could only lie on my back, there was constant pressure on my heels. Plus the TED hose (compression socks) add a lot of pressure over the heels. Add to that a long hospital stay due to having two surgeries. Scott gave me a stern talking-to, telling me how fast these can get out of control, and told me to call my doctor for advice. He explained how pressure (the heel layi...

PAO recovery and cycling training. Livestrong Challenge 2010 – Seattle. Training Plan & Updates. Thumbing my ride…. I might try my sit upright commuter bike with the really good disc brakes (so I only need to use one) to commute to work. But sustained rides are out for a bit. It is a bummer. At least I helped raise a wee bit of money to fight cancer, which was the whole point anyways. So, I will set my sights on the Tour de Whatcom. I am also going to think about the Chuckanut Century. From your own site.

“Can’t Do” mentality | FrankenHip Rides
https://frankenhip.wordpress.com/2010/04/12/cant-do-mentality
PAO recovery and cycling training. Livestrong Challenge 2010 – Seattle. Training Plan & Updates. 8220;Can’t Do” mentality. I have been trying to get myself motivated to train – and through this effort discovered something about my attitude. Simply put –. It ain’t good. Since my diagnosis about a year ago, and especially following my surgery, I have had a “can’t-do” mentality. I. Go for a hike, I. Kick the ball around with my kids, I. Ride at the bmx track, I. Play softball, I. Walk to the store, etc.

Hip Hack: June 2010
http://hiphack.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 16, 2010. I'm going to a new physical therapist, one recommended by a friend who's been doing PT his whole life due to cerebral palsy. I really like this guy, because he's professional, no-nonsense, he seems to know what he's doing, and he pushes me. The last therapist I had just talked the whole time. I think my hip's better now than it has since the surgeries began. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). WA, United States. View my complete profile. Gimpy Hip Chicks Journey.

http://hiphack.blogspot.com/2009/09/pao-surgery.html
Monday, September 28, 2009. Day 6 (SDH 5, PAO 0): PAO surgery. I walked with Matt as they wheeled his bed down to the surgery ward around 2 pm today. I reminded him to ask the anesthesiologist for a different general anesthesia. Hopefully he won't have as much vomiting this time around. September 28, 2009 at 5:16 PM. Oh Matthew, Matthew, Matthew! We know how he is! And I love it! I know it has to be hard to watch him go through this. Hang in there! You are his bestest cheerleader! I cant believe I saw Ma...
