Going Grey and Slightly Green

A little about me. Thursday, 13 August 2015. What do YOU do when it all gets to be a bit too much? Tuesday, 11 August 2015. From the country to the city. Yesterday a friend and I drove to the Big Smoke commonly known as Brisbane or Brisvegas. Before leaving town we briefly stopped at the beautiful and peaceful looking Queens Park while my friend fixed up her much too loud GPS as we knew it was going to be having to work overtime while we tried not to get lost like we usually do. Going Grey and Slightly Green: Whole Orange Cake (with no added sugar)

http://goinggreyandslightlygreen.blogspot.com/2015/08/whole-orange-cake-with-no-added-sugar.html

A little about me. Monday, 3 August 2015. Whole Orange Cake (with no added sugar). On the Down to Earth Forums. We have been chatting about Rhonda's Whole Orange Cake. Recipe which has been around for a while but new forum members often find the recipe and decide to give it a try so while I was thinking about it I thought I would see if I could make the cake without added sugar as I hadn't made it for a couple of years as I don't bake all that often. You can find Rhonda's ingredient list here:. Make a cu...

Going Grey and Slightly Green: Is it safe to grow veggies in Styrofoam boxes?

http://goinggreyandslightlygreen.blogspot.com/2014/01/is-it-safe-to-grow-veggies-in-styrofoam.html

A little about me. Wednesday, 8 January 2014. Is it safe to grow veggies in Styrofoam boxes? I know that many gardeners around Australia and possibly elsewhere in the world, grow vegetables in Styrofoam boxes especially if they are renting or don't have a lot of space to put in larger gardens. We recently saw a couple of episodes on the ABC's Gardening Australia. We were quite interested to see on Gardening Australia. In an episode later on in the year, Jerry Coleby-Williams. Also using a broccoli box.

Going Grey and Slightly Green: DIY Modesty Panel

http://goinggreyandslightlygreen.blogspot.com/2014/01/diy-modesty-panel.html

A little about me. Thursday, 16 January 2014. Now I can just hear you saying, 'What on earth is a Modesty Panel? Let me explain. If you are a female reading this you would have noticed that a lot of necklines are very low cut these days and require a Cami Top to be worn underneath. You may also have noticed that Australia is in the middle of a very hot summer and it is just too hot to be wearing two layers of clothing, so here is the alternative.make a Modesty Panel/Mock Camisole! I read of this some tim...

Going Grey and Slightly Green: What do YOU do when it all gets to be a bit too much?

http://goinggreyandslightlygreen.blogspot.com/2015/08/what-do-you-do-when-it-all-gets-to-be.html

A little about me. Thursday, 13 August 2015. What do YOU do when it all gets to be a bit too much? If I lived at the beach I would go down and sit on the pier and look out onto the ocean. This photo is what the pier at the back of the unit we stay at actually looks like :-). Then I walked past the clearance shelves in the yarn section and priced the sock yarn but it is still $11.99 and I still haven't finished my second pair of socks so kept walking and came across some Moda Vera Denbigh yarn for $2 ...

Going Grey and Slightly Green: A little bit of this and a little bit of that!

http://goinggreyandslightlygreen.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-little-bit-of-this-and-little-bit-of.html

A little about me. Monday, 18 May 2015. A little bit of this and a little bit of that! I have been home a week and feel like I have accomplished zilch in that time. There are so many weeds in the garden from the rain that fell during the rain event on May 1st which have needed attending to as well as spending too much time trying to find those pesky creepy crawlies hiding in my cabbages and having a great time there. There are a few jonquils scattered here and there. And the old faithful lavender. I didn...

Planning, preparing and planting. Links to this post. Wednesday, August 21, 2013. There are a few items around here that are no longer being put to good use-the trampoline is a case in point. The Old Dairy: Hello!

http://theolddairy.blogspot.com/2016/08/hello.html

Working towards a more sustainable and simple life. Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Spring is nearly here and I have been spending a lot of time in the garden. Also taking cuttings and getting a head start with them in the glass house. Bruce has been busy putting windows into our out door area. They can all open and will keep the rain out so we can still use this space. We did a market in our little local town last week end. I think Harry loved it as well. I have had the crocheting bug and making every one rugs.

The Crooked Cottage: March 2015

http://crookedbluecottage.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

How the blog began. Thursday, 26 March 2015. My kitchen rules (in my opinion) - part two. So as I discussed in my previous post (you can read it here. We put in a new kitchen before we moved in with the help of Kitchennet in Drummoyne. They organised all the cabinets and trades for installation - but to lower some of the costs I sourced the appliances and also the other essential items. Be warned - when installing a kitchen - don't forget to ask about what is (or is not! Mixer tap which is quite common.

How the blog began. Thursday, 23 July 2015. A tropical escape from the Antarctic Vortex. Well I have to admit I have been quite neglectful of the blog lately. First I was flat out with work and then we had a long awaited escape to Singapore. It seems we lucked upon the best time to go, with Australia experiencing a cold snap of quite extreme proportions - and which was called (rather dramatically) the Antarctic Vortex. 52 Places to Go in 2015 http:/ t.co/wpSHEdYf38. The Crooked Cottage: My nursery obsession - and getting started on your garden.

http://crookedbluecottage.blogspot.com/2015/08/my-nursery-obsession-and-getting.html

How the blog began. Saturday, 8 August 2015. My nursery obsession - and getting started on your garden. Most of my friends are of the age that when you say nursery they think change tables and nappy holders and giraffe growth charts. Me on the other hand - I think gardening! My usual go to nursery is Flower Power. This is not sponsored, (although I'd be very open to some sort of barter arrangement - I promise to post my purchases if I get some freebies! Boot full of loot for my #gardening. So turns out I...

Early Bird Farm: Lucas Mill

http://earlybirdfarmyard.blogspot.com/2015/08/lucas-mill.html

Tuesday, August 4, 2015. We took a trip down to Victoria (one of the scariest trips back, but that's a whole other story). To pick up a Lucas Mill. Left at 6 am and finally got back home at 1.20 am the next day. It was a very long trip wish we had stayed over and did the trip over two days. Before we went Andrew had Mal down at the metal works make up a T frame to hold the side rails of the mill on the roof. It just bolts to the tow bar and can be taken on or off in a few minutes. Cuts like a dream.

The Crooked Cottage: May 2015

http://crookedbluecottage.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

How the blog began. Saturday, 16 May 2015. Frog in the Pond. When we first moved in there was a pond. Not some sort of attractive water feature though, but a hollowed out concrete wall full of debris, dirty looking water, and covered over with a bit of shade cloth. Quite a large number of tadpoles. But although we knew there were tadpoles there we could not work out what kind of frog they were from. Or where said frog was to be found. The striped marsh frog. Is apparently very common in Eastern Australia.

Going Grey Farm LLC. Located in historic Culpeper County, Virginia, Going Grey Farm occupies 40 pasture and wooded acres. The Farm entered 32 acres into the Deatherage Run Agricultural and Forestal District in 2010 to preserve the property by restricting its development to agricultural and forestry practices. Going Grey Farm believes that all animals deserve to be treated as well as we would expect ourselves to be treated. This extends from the tiny house mouse (long story) to the draft horses.
