Confessions of a Train Geek: Elie's Station
http://blog.traingeek.ca/2010/08/elies-station.html
Confessions of a Train Geek. The world's longest running railway blog. Monday, August 02, 2010. I was in Elie, Manitoba a while ago and saw this structure. This HAS to have been a railway station. The style just screams "station" to me, from the freight door on the left to the slight bumped out center section to the lack of ground level windows on the ends, and the roof line. A cursory Google search showed nothing but I'm convinced this was a train station. Anyone have any proof? 2 August 2010 at 19:42.

http://blog.traingeek.ca/2015/05/14-miles-and-5-trains.html
Confessions of a Train Geek. The world's longest running railway blog. Friday, May 15, 2015. 14 Miles and 5 Trains. Last time, Thomas Sajnovic and I were in Portage la Prairie. In the morning of May 3. We had just decided to head back to Winnipeg via the Trans-Canada Highway, and therefore have a CN railfan opportunity. We headed east, and I had to stop in Oakville to check out the grain elevator. again. Onward. we ducked into Elie so I could show him the station-turned-house. Sadly they were destined to...

THE BEACHBURG SUB: My first glimpse of the Arnprior local
http://beachburg.blogspot.com/2015/05/my-first-glimpse-of-arnprior-local.html
Blogging about railways from Ottawa and beyond. Thursday, May 7, 2015. My first glimpse of the Arnprior local. Blogging about railways in Ottawa is frustrating at the best of times. But it's even worse when you squander the few opportunities you get in this city. This is one of those stories. This is another vantage point I'd like to use. This is the rail bridge over Robertson Road on New Year's Day. I was held up at home, preparing a few things for dinner. By the time I was ready to wait for this tr...

Blogging about railways from Ottawa and beyond. Thursday, May 28, 2015. The inside scoop on the Arnprior local. So, back to my original point. All of our conversations about CN's Wednesday train out to Arnprior attracted the attention of Ian McCord, former car controller for the Ottawa Central Railway and Yardmaster for CN. Here is his comment in full, in case you missed it:. And for readers outside of Ottawa, who may be a little less interested in this chase saga, I hope you will enjoy my upcoming shots...

Blogging about railways from Ottawa and beyond. Thursday, July 31, 2014. Bedell Ontario, Part II: Prescott Sub passes into history. A return trip to Bedell, Ontario proved to be quite sobering this past weekend. I had read that the Canadian Pacific has contracted a company to scrap the remainder of their North Prescott Spur in Kemptville. I decided to visit to see if this was the case. It turns out that this stretch of the old Bytown and Prescott Railway. I also saw a stack of old rail trackside, waiting...

THE BEACHBURG SUB: March 2014
http://beachburg.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Blogging about railways from Ottawa and beyond. Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Lessons learned in Kissimmee. A little breath of fresh air in Kissimmee, Florida really did me good. I made sure to take time away from the typical family outings to break away for a few moments of photographs at the Kissimmee Amtrak Station. The reason for the upgrade is that this section of the subdivision is slated to house the state's Sunrail. Shortly after hearing an announcement warning passengers that the Silver Meteor woul...

THE BEACHBURG SUB: January 2015
http://beachburg.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Blogging about railways from Ottawa and beyond. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Railway bridges of Ontario. So with that, here is a small tour of Ontario's railway bridges. First stop is Ottawa. The bridge below crosses over Carling Avenue along the mostly dismantled Beachburg Subdivision. Just west of Nepean Junction. Clinton is an interesting spot along the GEXR. The small town, hometown of famous author Alice Munro, has a small rail yard and a wye junction where the GEXR's main line between Goderich a...
