Latest on the flood prevention work. After several delays the path is finally and properly closed by secure metal fencing and even the great British Public will be hard pressed to get through. Out at Carsington Water yesterday, I leaned my bike against a signpost whilst taking photographs which included the bike. Note that the bike is almost vertical and that this is not a very good photograph, so I moved round to get a better shot. As I pressed the button, my bike, for no obvious reason, fell over. Rangers will have received a copy of the latest map of the National Cycle Network, and be as disappointed as I was to see that the City of Derby is apparently "a town", and that it "does not have a railway station". It has been decided that the Sustrans Festivol for next year will be held in the East Midlands and the dates are 20th -23rd July. The location will be in Sherwood Forest at the Walesby Scout Camp, which has excellent facilities and is situated a few miles North of Ollerton and quite close to Clumber Park.
