RD_View - A rendering framework

http://graphics.cs.niu.edu/projects/rd_view/index.html

The RD (rendering description) system is a framework for creating and comparing rendering engines. A common exercise in many introductory computer graphics classes (at least in computer science departments) is the creation of a software renderer. This gives students an opportunity to put into practice the algorithms that they are learning. The development of the renderer usually continues through the entire length of the course. There are usually two unintended side-effects of this approach:. The RD scen...

Geographic Shape

http://graphics.cs.niu.edu/projects/regview/index.html

The long term goal of this research is to create artificial research agents that understand geographic relationships in a fashion similar to human beings. A key part of this research is investigating data structures for representing geographical shapes. The data structures must be compact, allow multiple levels of detail, and be flexible in adding or removing detail. Advantages of quadtrees include. Simultaneous mixed level of detail possible. Difficulty in recognizing and comparing similar shapes. For g...
