About – Growing Up Trilingual

https://growinguptrilingual.wordpress.com/about-2

We are a bi-cultural family living in a multi-lingual country. Our home and school environment is predominantly in Japanese and English. I consider Mandarin to be our third language and exposure is mainly through her nanny and ad-hoc babysitters. I’m also a mother working in academia so from time to time, I write about this additional hat that I put on. Bi-cultural family living in a Multi-lingual country. 国際家族として多言語で子育てます. https://musesociety.org/2016/02/21/3-reasons-on-why-i-didnt-give-up-on-my-kids-mother-tongue/comment-page-1

3 Reasons on why I didn’t give up on my kids’ mother tongue. February 21, 2016. August 20, 2016. Today, in honour of UNESCO’s Mother Langauge Day (Feb.21st), I would like to present the 3 most fundamental reasons why I decided to stick with my mother tongue (i.e., Japanese) in raising my children. 1 Because I want to feel comfortable around my children. Sooner or later, my daughters will speak better English than I do. So why bother speaking in English with them? So sad if I can’t do that. Like any grand...

Growing Up Transgender | Raising our trans child

Raising our trans child. BBC sponsor vicious attack on transgender children. January 13, 2017. January 13, 2017. This evening BBC2 broadcast a programme Transgender kids: who knows best ‘challenging the new orthodoxy that promotes affirmation (acceptance) of transgender children’. I’ll share just a few of the main problems with the programme. The show regularly confused gender identity with behaviour. I am horrified that the BBC presented as fact the widely discredited 80% desistance figure. That 80% of ...

Growing Up Trifilio

Monday, October 19, 2009. I know I know.I've said it before, but I'm really going to try this time to keep this blog updated! There is WAY to much to type and catch everyone up on over the past month. But to sum it up Bella is doing FANTASTIC at school and she LOVES IT! . . . . . . My Life As MaMa

My Life As MaMa. Tuesday, August 04, 2015. First Half of Summer. Well, would you look at that. July is gone! As I knew it would, July flew by in a whirl of swim suits, plane rides, and party favours. It was exhausting- and so, so much fun. This is the summer that the three big kids will learn to swim. Two parents and four kids, doesn't make for very fun outings to the lake when none of the kids can swim. And last week we were back at the pool! It's the busiest summer yet, but probably also the most fun :).
