2015- It's a Wrap! I just wanted to take a minute to say how thankful I am for blessed I was this past 2015 year! I had a gorgeous crop of lambs in the spring, reaped the benefits of new pasture acreage, did well at my shows, sold the most fleeces I ever have, and was featured on Woolful podcast. I couldn't be happier with the direction my farm and business are going, and look forward to an even better year in 2016. Thank you everyone for your support! A Handmade Christmas Season. Dyed Fiber – Acorn Works Fiber Processing
http://acornworksfiber.com/your-order/dyed-fiber
Acorn Works Fiber Processing. Spinning, Knitting, Weaving Equipment. Books & Magazines. I love to dye fiber. That being said, I believe that it is a very subjective process, so do not dye for customers. I am quite happy to process dyed fiber into various color blends, multiple-way rovings (2, 3, 4, 5, 6). The pictures are from a guild. If you send me already dyed fiber, please keep in mind:. For future washing (to set the yarn and wash finished projects) of dyed fiber, I make it a general policy to wash ...

Grain and Soy Free Lamb. The Cotswold sheep breed is a very old breed listed as “Threatened” by The Livestock Conservancy. Preservation of rare breeds is important not only for intrinsic reasons, but also for the future of the commercial sheep breeding industry,. As changing needs in the market and the environment may require different genes than are popular today. The harvesting of wool is not just harmless, annual shearing is necessary to the health of wool breeds. Read more about Cotswold sheep at:.

Friday, November 15, 2013. Spent Some Time With a Hooker With a Heart of Gold. Yeah, I've been wantin' to say that all week. This week, I went to a meeting of the Little Lakes Rug Hooking Group. At a charming shop called Liberty Cottage,. In Canandaigua, NY. Liberty Cottage is the. THE LAST MINUTE HIDE OUT. All the shopping, decorating, wrapping, baking and errands are finished and all you want is a little bit of time to yourself. SpinSomeMore: He Gasped
http://spinsomemore.blogspot.com/2013/07/he-gasped.html
Sunday, July 7, 2013. When I was dating my husband, I brought him to my parents' house for a family dinner. As we were sitting at the table, someone said something so amusing that he laughed. With industriousness. My brother commented afterward that he had never seen anyone laugh so hard that the dishes shook in the china cabinet. So making my husband laugh. Became an important goal in our relationship. Occasionally I pull it off, and, of course, I am very, very proud. There were some issues. OK, so, adm...

SpinSomeMore: Indulgences
http://spinsomemore.blogspot.com/2013/06/indulgences.html
Sunday, June 2, 2013. In order to get through life, I've concluded, you have to have rules. And if you have a fiber fetish, then you have to have some serious rules. Like, everything has to be sealed in a container to keep the moths out. And, only take cash to fiber festivals. What to buy, what to buy? Well, the rules are:. 1 Whatever it is, it must be soft. 2 It must be a color combination I don't already have, since I do a lot of dyeing myself. 4 It cannot be for more money than I have. I thought maybe...

SpinSomeMore: If I Were a Moonshiner, I'd Make Very Smooth Shine
http://spinsomemore.blogspot.com/2013/06/if-i-were-moonshiner-id-make-very.html
Sunday, June 2, 2013. If I Were a Moonshiner, I'd Make Very Smooth Shine. Nope, I don't own a still. But I do like things smooth, so this week I've been working on my e-lectric Patrick Green Drum Carder, making up some exceptionally smooth, soft fiber. Let's start with my recipe. I filled up my little green produce cartons with half an ounce of dark black alpaca and half an ounce of super super soft angora. Look how shiny the black alpaca is. And here's a closeup. June 2, 2013 at 5:33 PM. You just need t...

Close Enough: September 2007

A blog about handknitting and whatever else I need to share with you. Photographs by Conrad Hoffman. Sunday, September 16, 2007. Italian Sausage and Tortellini Soup. To celebrate the lovely cool, fallish weather yesterday, I made soup for dinner. Italian Sausage and Tortellini Soup is hearty enough by itself for a meal with some grated Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top and some fresh, crusty bread served on the side. 3/4 to 1 pound Italian sausage (3 or 4 links), parboiled and sliced. 2 Add the onion, gar...

A visit with: Sara Silvio. Over the next few months leading up to our November market, Tuesday through Thursday we'll be showcasing one of our 2012 market artists, their work, and a little peek at where they make the magic happen. We hope you'll enjoy this new series, where we'll ask the same questions of each of our makers. We think so, too! We're a day late in beginning our posts this week - we'll double up tomorrow! What first inspired you to create/make what you do now? Your advice for someone. Danci...
