GWSR S&T

Wednesday, 8 July 2015. Tuesday 7th July- S&T at Winchcombe. An unusual start to the day with operations being disrupted by bees. Working by the side of the MSC shed was risky because a swarm of bees. Have taken residence inside the end of one of the recently painted. Bracket signal dollies. So if anyone needs a swarm for their hive. They know where to look! Making the assumption that they are. Re-conditioning of signalling equipment continues at a pace with 6 of us. With primer. Luckily it stayed dry.

GWSR S&T: April 2015

http://www.gwsrsandt.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Apologies, has your scribe been AWOL? Tuesday 28th April, I've only been away 5 weeks and it seems the Blog has been missed. Before I went I sent invites to several of the depts computer buffs so that the Word could continue to spread but somehow Google and Blogger just didn't click but now, , it can be announced that "Curly" has been admitted to the dizzy heights of blog author along with me Mike S, and Oily Roy. The one on the ground looks forlorn! I cant say too much about it...

GWSR S&T: November 2014

http://www.gwsrsandt.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, 22 November 2014. A bit of a soggy day. Thos of you that have seen out outdoor workbenches will apprecviate that progress can be frustrating on wet or showery days. Well last Tuesday was certainly that. But not to be put off we got on with reassembly work inside the old shed. John P and I got stuck into a ground signal which would have come to us as another rusty hulk and now will have been completely stripped greased and repainted to look almost as new. Monday, 3 November 2014. A lot has been ...

Broadway Station Rebuild: Marking the day...

http://broadwaystationgroup.blogspot.com/2015/08/marking-day.html

Saturday, 8 August 2015. Another hot day in Broadway but still 13 volunteers signed into work. John C and Steve then marked out the centre line of the foundations. Ready for the excavator to start on Monday morning. The site should look a lot different by this time next week. The next job was to move around 70 concrete troughs from the north end of the site where they have been in store since being recovered from Honeybourne following the Cotswold line re-doubling a few years ago. Ron B manned the Inform...

Broadway Station Rebuild: Business as usual

http://broadwaystationgroup.blogspot.com/2015/08/business-as-usual.html

Sunday, 16 August 2015. Limited coverage of Saturday's activities at Broadway due to a slight misunderstanding about who was reporter-in-chief but the following is included just to confirm that it was business as usual. Half way there in the boundary fence survey, thanks to Robin and Phil. For helping Vic cut back the brambles and ivy. Now that the footbridge hoops have been moved nearer the workshop Peter K and Jo were able to spend the day working on them, removing some hard to get to rivets to make th...

Broadway Station Rebuild: Another fine day

http://broadwaystationgroup.blogspot.com/2015/08/another-fine-day.html

Sunday, 2 August 2015. A good day yesterday, with 11 volunteers on site, and a nice warm day with which to get going. The station building is getting into gear now, and the start date for the foundations has been announced: Monday 10. In the picture above you can see the site of the station building. The old fencing was carefully dismantled and stored on platform two for future use elsewhere. Further along platform 2 we found Jim digging an exploratory ditch around the remaining foundations of the origin...

http://broadwaystationgroup.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-very-busy-day.html

Thursday, 13 August 2015. A Very Busy Day! There were 23 volunteers on duty today and there was much activity across the whole site. The contractors, Graham Morrison Ltd, together with a strong band of volunteers led by Tony and Clive pressed on with the foundations to the station building. The last delivery for today. Broadway Station Rebuild: Windows 12

http://broadwaystationgroup.blogspot.com/2015/08/windows-12.html

Friday, 7 August 2015. A significant day in the construction of the signal box. The installation of 12 of the 14 operating room windows. An unusual view of Broadway signal box before work started today. The work carried out by the painters in priming the inside of the roof can be clearly seen. Paul Richards, the joiner who has manufactured the windows, arrived early this morning with his assistant Bart and a van load of windows. The first window was soon going in. With the first bay completed.

Broadway Station Rebuild: Good foundations

http://broadwaystationgroup.blogspot.com/2015/08/good-foundations.html

Monday, 10 August 2015. A start was made today on digging and concreting the foundations for the main station building. However an unpromising start to the day when one of the two hired-in dumpers had a severe case of Monday morning blues and refused to move on its own so had to be winched back on to the lorry and taken back to the depot. Once that little hiccup had been dealt with the JCB soon got stuck in. With the Construction manager ensuring that the trench was dug to the correct dimensions.

Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway Steam Loco Dept Blog. Monday, 17 August 2015. After what was purportedly a whole month's worth of rain delivered in a two day period, Saturday was a blessed relief, without the slightest hint of precipitation. Hopefully the rains had arrived late enough in the week for this new patch of concrete outside the David Page shed to have cured after being poured on Monday. Building up the apron outside the David Page shed. New concrete inside the shed. Sean oiling up 5542.
