About the About Page. Archive of ‘Pugs’ category. July 31, 2014. In my house, invoking the words. Will cause hysteria among the canine population. You mention the words and they run in circles, wiggle, whine, jump on each other, jump on me, and follow me from room to room like ducklings. You don’t say. Unless you mean business. If you’re going to talk about the dog park but not actually go, you have to call it the D.P. Directions and they’d just give you an enigmatic shrug and walk away. The Poi...Swoozie...

Optimization, Actually: My Version of the Minimalist Challenge - Round 1
http://www.optimizationactually.com/2015/08/my-version-of-minimalist-challenge.html
Aug 6, 2015. My Version of the Minimalist Challenge - Round 1. I saw a few people complete the minimalism challenge from Into Mind. And I was all fired up about it. "I MUST DO THIS! And then I thought about it. Maybe adding more challenges to my life is the opposite of minimalism. Because the area I could use the most decluttering in is my stack of obligations and tasks, rather than "stuff." Although there are certain areas that could use a good clear out. My Personal Minimalist (ish) Challenge. I'd gott...

Optimization, Actually: Show Us Your Books - July Reads
http://www.optimizationactually.com/2015/08/show-us-your-books-july-reads.html
Aug 11, 2015. Show Us Your Books - July Reads. I've been crummy at keeping up with book challenges, lately. Instead I kind of dove into the self help topics that I most want to work on right now: self love, body acceptance, and all things business. And there's a few fun ones, too. My last couple reads were incredible that I'm going to go in reverse order so I can talk about them first. Fat Girl Walking: Sex, Food, Love, and Being Comfortable in Your Skin. Every Inch of It ♥. I think the point that I want...

Optimization, Actually: Don't Nobody Want These Genes
http://www.optimizationactually.com/2015/08/dont-nobody-want-these-genes.html
Aug 13, 2015. Don't Nobody Want These Genes. I had a goal for a while. It was an excellent goal because it combined altruism with financial gain. How can you make money but still feel like you're helping someone? So this year I thought, "Well, I'm getting close to 30 and I'm getting married soon and might want to do things that interfere with my eligibility (like be pregnant). So I'll see if they'll take me now despite the BMI.". I honestly had no expectation of being approved. And I wasn't, not dire...

Jun 30, 2015. Sugar Addiction and Binge Eating - 1 Month Check In. So this isnt exactly a fitness post, but Alyssa kindly gave me the thumbs up to link up to Training for Tuesday. Anyway. Heres the background. If you missed it, but basically about a month ago I decided to cut out a huge amount of the sugars and refined grain I consume pretty much daily. Ive actually taken it a step further. I always used to get annoyed by those people who ask, Will anyone split a with me? So yes, Ive become one of tho...

Optimization, Actually: August 2015
http://www.optimizationactually.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Aug 31, 2015. Like most of my posts, Im scheduling this ahead of time, so theres an element of guesswork here, but Im probably. Married now. Unless Ryan or I randomly decided to get cold feet. Although, that would be pretty problematic since we already handled the legal stuff. 160;As in everything I do, brevity is entirely lacking. You can always tell when I’m upset, and if there’s a way to fix it, you’ll find it. But when I don’t want things fixed, you’re willing to j...Jenn @ Optimization Actually.

Jul 31, 2015. Tasty Teas from Trish. Im on an alliterative kick, as you may have noticed. Anyway, I joined in for Trishs tea swap, got to partner up with the host herself, and was sent some very tasty stuff in this extremely glamorous package. (All I had was Christmas paper, so Trishs package was a bit less, uh, classy.). 160;Partially for the linkup, but mostly so I could remember what I drank and liked. Jenn @ Optimization Actually. Optimization, Actually: Friendship For Sale - Going Once, Twice...
http://www.optimizationactually.com/2015/08/friendship-for-sale-going-once-twice.html
Aug 17, 2015. Friendship For Sale - Going Once, Twice. Making friends is hard. You know it's bad when you're reading some article or self help book and nodding in fascination at such enlightening suggestions as "make eye contact" and "smile at people." Because it should all be common sense! If I'm nice to people, they'll be nice to me. And when you do start to make friends with someone, what then? But it really doesn't work that way. You don't get to know someone immediately, and in those tentative f...

Optimization, Actually: Sunday Sweats (and a Sneaky Weekend Recap)
http://www.optimizationactually.com/2015/08/sunday-sweats-and-sneaky-weekend-recap.html
Aug 18, 2015. Sunday Sweats (and a Sneaky Weekend Recap). I wasn't planning on doing Sunday Sweats at all for last week because I did almost nothing. But then I went to my half marathon and actually ran (and walked) it and I had to report that! Here's to my first 13.1 mile race (finished just 7 minutes under the time limit) and 2 PRs in 2 weeks! Anything's a PR the first time you do it! The next morning was the race, which went unexpectedly well. Sister3 is an awesome pacer and having someone to chat...
