Glenn was recently at a privately owned mine in Queensland to collect and buy rock. The owners only visit this area on their property maybe every six months or so but. Every time they have been there up pops (or should I say "hops") this wallaby. Probably because they feed him. It was morning teatime and Glenn stopped for a cuppa and along comes Ted. He looks such a character!

Under the Influence of Rocks. Wednesday, March 22, 2006. It will never cease to amaze me how different people get attracted to different rocks. And the attraction is sometimes insatiable. There we are in Quartzsite or Tucson, with trestle tables absolutely choc-a-block full of rocks for sale. They are polished faces and slabs and range from stunning reds, mauves, pinks and purples to greens, blues and yellows. Beautiful, exquisite rocks. Under the Influence of Rocks. Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Mining at Mooka - Phase One. We've just completed the first three weeks of this year's mining. We've done the 'big shop' (groceries galore), Glenn's done his packing which amongst other things includes every vehicle spare he can carry and I've got enough first aid and medications to open a chemist shop. Under the Influence of Rocks. Friday, May 11, 2007. We took some friends into Perth recently to visit two places; first was the Department of Industry and Resources and, second, was the Perth Museum. At the Department of I and R I saw this map of Western Australia showing the "Recent Activity in Minerals" and was very impressed. (click on the photo to enlarge) What a rich state this is! Then we made our way to the Perth museum where we found a stunning display of meteorites! But, wait, there's more!

Monday, March 12, 2007. These jugs were my mum's. My earliest memory of these jugs is of them sitting on a mantlepiece in mum and dad's bedroom. This was when we lived in Ebbisham Road, Epsom, Surrey, England. I was very young when we lived in that house so it probably wasn't as 'huge' as I imagine. Living up in the trees. This is really living. Sunday, May 08, 2011. I bought this dear sweet little dog a toy. It had a squeaker. Yes, "had". Does not have a squeaker anymore. So I bought him one of those "Kongs". They are TOUGH toys for TOUGH dogs. He ripped the end off that too! And it didn't even have a squeaker! Now he's got his eye on Woody's Kong. I was young and, unfortunately, didn't appreciate the fun everyone was having. Now I can look back and laugh. Friday, May 18, 2007. The day my sons were born my life changed, for ever. But I suppose all mothers would say that. My twin sons have been the best thing that has happened to me in my whole life. I felt so much better after that and dealt with my 'grief' and. They are 26 now and living what I can only describe as 'dynamic' lives. On one of our trips to England to visit all my family I suggested my sons keep a diary. It was hard work - for me and for them but well worth it. Under the Influence of Rocks. Sunday, December 13, 2009. Glenn was asked if he would like to do the Munich Show this year. It is a very different type of venue and clientele to the American shows that he does each year. Consequently, it was a learning experience but a successful one. The eye-catcher was the large slab of Tiger Eye (see photo above). In the foreground of this same photo is a 800kg block of Mookaite. On the table next to it were polished slabs of that rock showing its beautiful colours.
