Under the Influence of Rocks: December 2006
http://helenglennandwoody.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Under the Influence of Rocks. Sunday, December 31, 2006. We meet our friends and we all pile in the minivan with luggage and set off for Quartzsite. This isn't the rush hour. The traffic is like this constantly. Even through the night it is heavy. Makes me laugh when I think of traffic reports for Perth. If it takes us an extra ten minutes to get home we complain! Oh, well maybe not everyone. I've heard some people say how ugly wind farms can be but I think they are quite beautiful. Pretty neat, huh?

Friday, December 22, 2006. OAP = Old Age Pensioner SOD = Sod. I cannot remember having long conversations with him. I cannot remember him actually putting his arms around me and cuddling me. I can remember him holding my hand a few times and I sat on his lap once or twice. I accepted this lack of closeness without question - as a child would. I realise now that he must have loved having me following him around and I'm glad I did. My mum passed away in 1999 and I stopped writing for a while. I was pho...

http://helenglennandwoody.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Under the Influence of Rocks. Friday, January 13, 2006. At the moment we are at The Rock and Gem Show at Quartzsite. The best rocks, of course, are Australian! Above is Mookaite and Orbicular Granite. Below is Tiger Eye. End of January we will move on to Tucson until mid February when we will return home to Australia. I'm in America and received an email from a friend telling me she had just started blogging! So here I am. Probably talking to myself. But isn't it amazing? How exciting this is!

Purple: Little Jugs
http://nardazspot.blogspot.com/2007/03/little-jugs.html
Monday, March 12, 2007. These jugs were my mum's. My earliest memory of these jugs is of them sitting on a mantlepiece in mum and dad's bedroom. This was when we lived in Ebbisham Road, Epsom, Surrey, England. I was very young when we lived in that house so it probably wasn't as 'huge' as I imagine. I spent alot of time at home as I was in my pre-school years which explains why I have these clear images. We went to this cupboard for clean clothes each day and that included the dreaded bodice. Happy days&...

Saturday, May 05, 2007. I wandered lonely as a cloud. That floats on high o'er Vales and Hills,. When all at once I saw a crowd,. A host of golden daffodils;. Beside the lake, beneath the trees,. Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. Continuous as the stars that shine. And twinkle on the milky way,. They stretched in never-ending line. Along the margin of a bay. Ten thousand saw I at a glance,. Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. The waves beside them danced, but they. A poet could not but be gay.

Purple: Christmas Parties
http://nardazspot.blogspot.com/2006/12/christmas-parties.html
Thursday, December 21, 2006. I can remember Christmas parties at our house as children. A small council house on the outskirts of London. I was young and, unfortunately, didn't appreciate the fun everyone was having. Now I can look back and laugh. I was very young but have clear memories of my nana, her brother and my mum laughing until they cried. I can still see their red faces with tears running down their cheeks. Such happy days. Friday, May 18, 2007. The day my sons were born my life changed, for ever. But I suppose all mothers would say that. My twin sons have been the best thing that has happened to me in my whole life. I felt so much better after that and dealt with my 'grief' and. They are 26 now and living what I can only describe as 'dynamic' lives. They are both professionals and live life to the max, as they say. I adore them. This is my hand that you can hold, I promis I'll be as good as GOLD. And I love this bit: ".

Tuesday, July 03, 2007. Diary of an 8 year old flyer. I'm sure if you encourage children to talk about and describe things they have done and places they have been that it helps to instill memories. On one of our trips to England to visit all my family I suggested my sons keep a diary. It was hard work - for me and for them but well worth it. This account of our experience at the airport is a cracker. Click on the image to enlarge). He must have asked me why they were looking inside our bags.
