High Country Gardening – Zone 5 at 7100 feet!

Not so easy in my Rocky Mountain paradise. I have had to learn much more about growing my favorite vegetables, I had to plant. Trees and I have added flowers to my passion. What is different in Colorado – everything! The soils here have very little decayed matter in them. Very little grows naturally in our semi-arid state so there is not enough plant matter to create a rich top soil. [singlepic id=29 w=320 h=240 float=center]. Irrigation is necessary to grow most plants. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

All my Salvia/sages are starting to peak out of the ground and phlox is blooming! Tulips, hyacinth, and grape hyacinth are poking up and flowers are beginning to show.
