A Quilter's Path: July 2013
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 6, 2013. Small Projects for Summer Days. With the weather warming up at the lake in Michigan and my son's wedding right around the corner, small, quick sewing projects seemed like the way to go. Do you remember the baby quilt that I just finished for Miles in Ireland? Well, Miles has a big sister, Iris. I'm a big sister, too, and I remember how put out I was when my brother came along! Isn't this print sweet? A Gift Envelope Pouch. I know I did at my daughter's wedding! The drawstring is j...

A Quilter's Path: Molly's Quilt (Part 1)
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013/08/mollys-quilt-part-1.html
Sunday, August 18, 2013. Molly's Quilt (Part 1). After a long dry spell, I'm back in the sewing saddle! Back on Long Island from a wonderful couple of weeks in Michigan and ready to hit the sewing machine. After my son's wedding in July, we returned to Michigan to have house guests, family, and another wedding. All those UFOs that I thought. I would work on during my one week home in July came to naught. But now, especially with the unexpectedly cooler weather, I'm ready to get to work! I needed a block ...

A Quilter's Path: For Greta, From Jenny Doan
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2015/03/for-greta-from-jenny-doan.html
Friday, March 27, 2015. For Greta, From Jenny Doan. My newest granddaughter, Greta, was born last May, but I'd already started working on her quilt. I started with one layer cake of bright colors and yardage in white that I cut into 10" squares. Complete instructions for the Disappearing Pinwheel blocks can be found at the MSQC website, on YouTube, and in Block magazine. Now, just like we did for the Disappearing Nine-Patch, square up the pinwheel blocks and the cut them into thirds in both directions.

A Quilter's Path: April 2013
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 19, 2013. My sewing is coming along really well these days. One big project is well underway and another smaller one is almost done (next post! In the process I managed to finish two more Barrister's blocks by using the units as leaders and enders. In between, I cranked out a cute apron for my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower. The apron pattern is great - fully adjustable without hardware (buckles etc.), so anyone can wear it. Still, dessert is what it's all about, right? Today was th...

A Quilter's Path: August 2013
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Little Steps Make a Long Path. With only a few minutes now and then to work on quilting projects, I decided that it was time to get things moving! Lots of little things done become serious progress! UFOs (but not for long! Pieceful Quilting has opened up their nice air-conditioned classroom for us climate-challenged quilters. So I headed over today, but - oops! Forgot to bring the fabric I wanted to cut to get started on Molly's Quilt! S Easy Street Mystery Quilt. Nothing like...

A Quilter's Path: January 2014
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 19, 2014. A Quilter's Path Takes a Detour! So long since my last post! Not that I've been idle, but I usually don't post unless I have some quilty pics, and that just didn't happen over the holiday season. I don't know about you, but I like a blog with lots of pictures. I just haven't had much ready to show you since before the holidays. I did find this wall decor in a Greek restaurant during a recent visit to San Francisco. Wonderful hexagons! Will I ever make a quilt like this? This is ...

A Quilter's Path: September 2013
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 29, 2013. Where did September go? The non-profit organization that I work with had a big international event last week and it took over my life. Right after that was over, I ended up completely rearranging my sewing studio. Ack! Sewing Studio 2.0. The reason for rearranging had nothing to do with sewing. We were having trouble getting a good wi-fi signal in parts of the house, so we wanted relocate the router, which in turn required moving the furniture. But BONUS! This - was my origina...

A Quilter's Path: February 2013
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 27, 2013. My high school chemistry teacher, Mr. Cavins, was wonderful! He had lots of little quips to help us think about the "pieces" of chemistry - electrons, atoms, molecules - and as I worked on this quilt, I realized that his quips applied to quilts as well. One of his favorites was:. The scale of observation creates the phenomenon.". This means that things look different depending on how close or far away your perspective. If you look at a table, do you see atoms? I posted my pr...

A Quilter's Path: Michigan Star
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2015/04/michigan-star.html
Thursday, April 2, 2015. This is a pillow top that I recently finished and wanted to share. First there's a back story. Last summer we got some new furniture for the porch at our cabin in Michigan. It came with some pillows, but we wanted a few more. I decided to make covers for some pillows that I'd rescued from our previous living room furniture at home. Cut into squares and subcut into triangles. Here it is with the borders that it needed to get it up to size. I couldn't do much sewing while I was in ...

A Quilter's Path: Life in a Blended Family
http://aquilterspath.blogspot.com/2015/03/life-in-blended-family.html
Thursday, March 26, 2015. Life in a Blended Family. Sometimes quilts appear, not out of fabric or colors or designs, but out of something more. When I was planning Molly's Wedding Quilt, I thought that I'd put some appliques in the large white squares. Each applique would be something special about the blended family, Molly, her husband, and his two children. Well, make another quilt, of course! A special family quilt. I decided to try to make each square look kind of like a photo in an album. If you...
