True Stitches: Rugs'n'Hugs
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/08/rugsnhugs.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Friday, August 14, 2015. One of the reasons you haven't heard from me lately is that I helped organise our Gabriola Hookers biannual event that happened last Saturday. It was held at the Commons, our collectively owned community centre. Thirty-five hookers from southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands joined us for the day. We also had a show and sale that had over 200 members of the public coming through. There were several areas to work in. And that's all Bl...

True Stitches: August Linen
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/august-linen.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Monday, July 13, 2015. It's not August yet, but when I went into the bedroom the other evening, the sultry amber light reminded me of late summer. I took a series of photographs without moving anything - this is the jumble of my life. I was thinking of skin, and stone, form and time. And I miss my clean white linen and my fancy French cologne. So inviting on this very cold morning at 3am! Please forgive me for using word verification. The spam robots got to me.

True Stitches: Carpet Slippers
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/carpet-slippers.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Friday, July 17, 2015. Are carpet slippers for wearing whilst walking on carpets, or are they made out of carpets? Maybe they could be both! I lifted a motif and colour scheme from a book on middle eastern textiles. But they feel super cosy. Or should I say "It feels super cosy." The second slipper is still to come. I hope what I learned from the first speeds things up a bit. Let's hope they match. Oh i bet those are comfy! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

True Stitches: Another Mystery Cloth
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/another-mystery-cloth.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Saturday, July 18, 2015. I picked up this large-ish cloth at an estate sale. The technique is shibori, but at first I thought it was Korean because of the (rather odd) yin-yang symbol at the centre. Then I realised there were eight trigrams surrounding the centre, instead of the four on the Korean flag, so I researched a little further and figured out it is a bagua. Who taught me much of what I know. Double overcast in opposite directions on a fold? I dont think tha...

True Stitches: I'm Still Stitching, Really I Am!
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/08/im-still-stitching-really-i-am.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Wednesday, August 05, 2015. I'm Still Stitching, Really I Am! Slow progress is being made on the new Codex Canadensis. Piece The beaver was tricky to stitch as the Louis Nicolas drawing was shaded with a dark watercolour, making it hard to see the lines. I still have more to do in this section, but I'm going to work on another area for a bit, then come back to it. Always glad to see posts about this project, Heather. x. Ooh, scary beaver! True Stitches: Randomly in August
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/08/randomly-in-august.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Wednesday, August 05, 2015. Time is going by so quickly. There are beautiful salads to eat. One would almost think they were in California. Fresh tomatoes, straight from the garden. Pure bliss. I even wrote a haiku:. There was a blue moon last Friday. Smoke from the forest fires give it an amber glow. True Stitches: Nothing to be Alarmed About, But...
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/its-official.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Nothing to be Alarmed About, But. I am officially as old as dirt. I got the black flag* yesterday at 1:25 pm, while meeting the doctor who was filling in for my regular doctor. He was young, but then they all seem young now. His last name was common in the small town in which I grew up, so I commented on that. He said that is where his family is from. Banal chit chat, right? Now maybe I can get some work done! Says: The solid black flag.
